NE did well to hold out for a big payoff for a disaffected player - more than the Union was ever going to pay.
This was why they didn't trade him earlier. New England didn't want to trade him to an Eastern Conference team.
Sources: Sebastien Le Toux will Retire as a Union Player https://www.crossingbroad.com/2018/05/sources-sebastien-le-toux-will-retire-as-a-union-player.html This is nice and this is right.
Game versus RSL or Vancouver? Doubt they would do it at a game that might actually sell a few tickets and have fans there anyway.
I just told my wife about LeToux's retirement. Her response: "can't he stay and take over the head coaching job?"
No-brainer for them. They get to monetize the goodwill we will inevitably show towards the only team legend we have.
Oddly, this wouldn't really surprise me. Fire Curtin, in steps the team's most popular former player. Imagine how much traction the PR team would get out if it.
I would no longer understand a single thing said in pre- and post-game press conferences. But, maybe that's not all that different from now, anyway.
Honestly Le Toux as the next coach makes a more sense than one would originally think...it allows Sugarman to continue to be cheap, and suckers like me would actually be okay with the hire. Granted, I would much rather have a Tata Martino/Patrick Viera type of hire, but Le Toux is a club legend and I'd be fine seeing him as the next manager
He was putting the Cherry Hill FC U-16s through their paces a week ago, that’s about the same experience level as Hack and Curtin has when taking over.
Pointers from Paunovic. It's like Tuesdays with Morrie, but with a soccer spin. I'm gonna start making the Rebond de Chat Mort t-shirts now.
"Foooll credeet to zem, eezza tough place to come" "We will, uhhh, 'ow you say, watch ze tapes, uhhh... (gallic shrug of shoulders)... " "We are vairy APPEE wiz our young playairs...."
We can get LAFC to trade us Will Ferrell and he could be player coach. Think of the movie rights to Semi-Pro the Sequel
Anyone know what Le Toux has been doing for income? I'm connected with him on LinkedIn but his page is dormant and he does not list any post-soccer employment. Mike Servidio said on his podcast that he often sees Le Toux in his neighborhood which I believe is Old City/Northern Liberties.
http://www.delcotimes.com/article/DC/20180508/SPORTS/180509702 "Settled in the Philly area with his wife, Kendall, Le Toux will join the club’s front office in an undisclosed role while offering private coaching to keep his passion for the game burning. He’s also working with Kendall’s home staging business while doing promotional work for a pharmaceutical company."
