Absolutely. They need someone who's as competent as is reasonably possible at spotting incidents quickly and making sure the VAR team see the right angles. If that can only be done by an experienced TV director for football, then that's what they need.
This is an interesting piece - I sliced England's performance against Tunisia into 15 minute chunks for @unibet. Conclusion: four legs good, two legs bad. https://t.co/5ErXTjPNaD— Duncan Alexander (@oilysailor) June 19, 2018 For anyone that doesn't know xG means - Expected goals. A metric which assesses every chance, essentially answering the question of whether a player should have scored from a certain opportunity. Put simply, it is a way of assigning a "quality" value (xG) to every attempt based on what we know about it.
Was at the England - Tunisia game last night and finally got to where there's some decent Wifi to upload the 3 goals if you want to see from the crowd's perspective: Kane's Opener: Sassi penalty: Kane's Winner: Did think the penalty decision was very dubious to say the least, but it's always hard to say as you don't get the benefit of replays. FIFA never shows them in the stadium. Hmm.. I wonder why. Anyway, congrats England, I think it's safe to say the better team won in the end.
Before... but like all conspiracy theories it doesn't matter how much evidence there is to the contrary.
If we're going 2 up top, I would much rather have Rashford partner Kane. When it was 2 behind Kane, Sterling was fine, but if there is a situation where Sterling is likely to be the furthest player forward or the player chances fall to, as should happen with strikers, I'd much rather it be Rashford or Vardy. Rashford preferably as he is more versatile, and better at joining play
Chances don't fall to players arbitrarily though, they get them in large part based on their movement. Aside from 1v1 situations I think Sterling still causes defences more problems than Rashford does. There's also the option of playing both, as I think Sterling can quite comfortably do the same job that Lingard does ahead of the sitting midfielder(s).
An update from the #ThreeLions camp: @dele_official underwent a scan today, revealing a slight thigh strain. The issue will be managed over the coming days. pic.twitter.com/N125T4KIld— England (@England) June 19, 2018
Oh well. Thought he did very well before he got hurt, but both Loftus-Cheek and Delph are more than capable of getting the better of Panama. Hopefully it'll be the former.
Japan and senegal winning today. I would also see this as good news for us. Id take either of those 2 in the next round
Great to meet the Young @England Lions 🦁 today - @PhilFoden, @RyanSessegnon and @masonmount_10. You can watch our interview on @bbcmotd this week. #worldcup2018 pic.twitter.com/awo8No6rjn— Alan Shearer (@alanshearer) June 19, 2018
Apparently Southgate has managed to dislocate his shoulder... while jogging. Is that the most 'Southgate' thing to happen or what
