Thursday November 1st Buzzard Point 8:00 pm (too late) Fox Sports 1 yeah, yeah, there's a generic playoff thread; we'll see if game threads work on their own too. We haven't played Austin Villa since our neutral-venue meeting in Annapolis in April. Overrated Michigan-grad loser Justin Meram says we've only had a winning (non-losing) streak because we haven't played them, if that helps you hate that jack-ass even more Winner keeps going for the chance to play some other team on 3 days rest (but at least that one is two games; home-and-away). DC United: 4 barely-still-Columbus: 1 at least 1 DC goal by someone who has yet to score in 2018
Pickings are pretty slim of the guys who actually play so I'll go with Brilliant on a set piece. He's come close a couple times this season.
Congrats on the great run to get in. If we had the home match I would have loved to see Rooney play. Alas, I am getting a 1997, 1998, 1999 vibe on the ending. Though both the DC/Crew teams of those years were better than the present incarnations.
I know it's a futile request directed at the wrong audience but it would be nice if people showed up on time. It's so frustrating trying to watch the game through people standing in the aisle looking helplessly at their phone waiting for Alexa to tell them what to do. Or staggering up the aisle with thousands of calories worth of nasty food that they spent $20 and 20 minutes of game time to acquire. There, I feel better now.
Sorry faifax4dc, I bet I come in late. First, I like to get the maximum amount of tailgating in before the long walk to the stadium ..... then I'm gonna have to wait in whatever line is at the box office to get my printed tickets. But I won't be talking to my phone or carrying a bunch of food and I know where I'm going I may be staggering
A lot of people on DCU reddit coming for the first time asking what it's like in the supporters section. Should be...interesting.
I'm one of those folks. I assumed that it involved making a tremendous amount of noise until the final whistle sounds, singing the songs and chants as well as you can, wearing black DC kit, and getting beer on you when we score. (Oh, and screenshot the ticket ). Did I miss anything?
I already do that. I was a season ticket holder for a few years when we were at RFK and have been to a couple of games this year, so I have the basic idea
And yet with the stadium still a pain in the ass to get to and not that impressive I am not feeling compelled to attend a playoff match. I will watch and root on the boys from the comfort of my recliner. I would never have missed a playoff match at RFK.
The worst that could happen is missing one of those routine, run of the mill Wayne Rooney 33 yard free kick goals.
I had good seats at RFK, right on the "40 yard line" on the Quiet Side, and found the round trip to the stadium quick and easy. But, good as my seats were, my seats at Audi Field are infinitely better because of the pitch and the elevated sight line. I'll take a bit of inconvenience getting there for the superior spectator experience.
As I have said I understand many of you have better site lines. I do not. So the process means more to me.
Give it a rest, man. The stadium is located where it is. It’s not moving out to rural Maryland. Your constant whining about having to take the Metro, and not being able to figure out how to use paperless ticketing is getting pretty old. You sound like my dad bitching about the disappearance of manned toll booths near his house in Florida.
I sound like a broken record on this, but Audi Field is about 5-10 minutes from Nationals Park, which is a stadium that attracts more than 2 million visits per year. And it isn’t like The Nationals fanbase is some sort of paragon of urban hipsterism. It draws fans from all over the DC metro area, many of them families with pretty young children, who don’t seem to complain much about the fact that they need to trek out to a neighborhood which is, literally, within sight of the Capitol.
They’re the top seed in the East, so they’ll play the lowest ranking remaining seed in the next round. So, whoever wins the game tomorrow.
