2 December 2010 16:00 CET Zurich, Switzerland 2018 Bids Belgium & Netherlands England Russia Portugal & Spain 2022 Bids Australia Japan Qatar South Korea United States Voting Procedure: For both the 2018 and 2022 editions of the World Cup, the FIFA Executive Committee will vote to decide which candidate is to host the tournament. The multiple round exhaustive ballot system is to be used to determine the tournament host amongst all eligible members of the FIFA Executive Committee have one vote. The candidate receiving the fewest votes in each round is eliminated until a single candidate is chosen by the majority. In the event of a tied vote, FIFA President Sepp Blatter will have the deciding vote. There are twenty-four members on the Committee, but two of those are currently suspended due to their alleged willingness to sell their votes for money. This means that twelve votes (or 11 with the presiding vote) will secure victory.
Last WC had a clear favorite in South Africa for this one I really have no idea what's going to happen this time.. this is fifa but may the best candidate win.
england qatar favorites I dont know about the first one but Qatar have 2022 locked. (sepp is such a slimeball)
If Qatar lands 2022, it will demonstrate just how corrupt FIFA has become. I will take any 2022 bidder over Qatar.
Looks like it: "China flags up interest in hosting 2026 World Cup" Not surprising that they say this right before the voting.
I hope the violence at last nights birmingham v Aston villa game wont stop england getting the vote. This is not what we want to see in our game. As it does happen elsewhere hopefully they realise most games dont have any problems. http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2010/12/02/violence-flares-as-27-hurt-at-blues-v-villa-clash/ Seven people were arrested and 27 injured amid violent scenes at the end of the Carling Cup quarter-final clash between Birmingham City and Aston Villa. A flare was thrown and seats ripped out and hurled at fans at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s ground after Blues beat their bitter rivals 2-1 last night. One man was knocked unconscious and five people needed hospital treatment. Two police dogs were also injured after they were struck by missiles. The violent pitch invasion, involving more than 1,000 fans, followed City’s victory. Birmingham City fans were see to run across the pitch to taunt rival fans in the Gil Merrick Stand following the final whistle. Around 200 seats are believed to have been ripped out by VIlla fans and used as missiles which were thrown onto the pitch, along with coins and plastic bottles. A flare was thrown into the section housing the Villa supporters then tossed backwards and forwards between the rival factions. A total of 500 officers were policing last night’s match, the first midweek clash between the clubs since ugly scenes seven years ago. The figure is around five times the usual police presence for a Premiership match. Police formed a barracade between the rival set of fans as violence erupted. Superintendent Steve Graham, who was responsible for policing the game, said: “This incident must have been very frightening for the vast majority of spectators who enjoyed the match and did not cause any problems. “Around 1,000 fans made it onto the pitch and officers put themselves in harms way to keep the fans apart.” An investigation is now under way.
I hope the 2 most deserving people get the World Cup. I am rooting for: Netherlands / Belgium 2018 Qatar 2022 But I know I will be disappointed. It'll probably be England 2018 and USA 2022.
How is Qatar deserving? Benelux does deserve one, but Qatar? That is like saying England deserves to host the Super Bowl. It's nice to play a game there, but not the main event.
I heard it is supposed to be broadcast on ESPN and Univision but I don't see it anywhere on my channel guide and it is listed as a feature event on ESPN3 but there is no link nor is it listed in the upcoming broadcasts list. I also can't find the link to watch it live on FIFA.com. EDIT: They just flashed something on my screen saying the announcement will be part of a special sportcenter or something like that at 10am on ESPN.
In England at least it has all swung around. England heavy favourites now. I just had a cheeky tenner on Russia at 2/1 and Spain/Portugal at 5/1.

Per Twitter: The head of Qatar's bid, brother of crown prince, tells Al Jazeera "Congratulations Qatar. We have won." Hope this is BS
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/bidders/live/index.html They are waiting until its time to make the announcement to trasmit anything.
