This is a good sign. I can only hope there is master plan behind it all. There seems to be a method behind the madness on paper but time will tell. I'm curious....... if you think with the acquisition of Benny still points to the diamond and if so what's the lineup looking like. I see more of a 3-5-2 (or a 5-3-2 defending): or if we go with the 4-4-2 diamond:
To your point (and congratulations Ives for catching up with the rest of us): Fully expect the Chicago Fire- Colorado Rapids trade for 5th overall pick I mentioned last night to go down IF the Rapids' target is there at 5. I mentioned Dayne St. Clair as a potential Rapids target, but I'm told Rapids are high on Denver forward Andre Shinyashiki. #MLSDraft— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 11, 2019
And as soon as I post that, reports are the deal is done: Source confirms this trade is complete. Colorado is sending $100k in GAM and the No. 15 pick to Chicago to move up to the Fire's No. 5 pick. https://t.co/WVVjgErh6X— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) January 11, 2019
✍️ Officially official. @b_feilhaber22 is burgundy and blue!📝 https://t.co/dipoOiPRD1 pic.twitter.com/4SucT9YnA9— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) January 11, 2019
Chicago is officially on the clock. We should hear momentarily that they've traded the pick to us and we take Shinyashiki.
The Fire are on the clock and as previously rumored they have traded the #15 for the #5 pick to the Rapids and we've selected DU's Andre Shinyashiki. No shock to anyone here. The most "pro ready" player in the draft. I don't put a lot of stock in the draft but the Rapids got a player. Interested to see how this pans out given his international status.
Evergreen's own, Griffin Dorsey of Indiana, was chosen by TFC right after Shinyashiki. He was guy I wanted us to target if Shinyashiki fell through. Good for Dorsey. Quality player who will be repping his home state in the upcoming U20 WC. Draft watching now over. Now back to work...........ugh!
So we traded Badji, the #5 pick, $100K in GAM, and an international slot for Acosta, Shinyashiki, and a 2nd round pick. That's a nice bit of business.
Nope, because we traded Badji for the #15 pick, then traded it away. We started with Badji, the #4 pick, $100K of GAM, and an international slot, none of which we still have. Instead we have Acosta, Shinyashiki, and a 2nd round pick, none of which we started with.
Agreed. Now he can go learn from my favorite DeMarcus Bealsey on how to be a midfielder turned fullback. We also just made back some GAM money we sent to Chicago.
With the #28 pick in the draft the Colorado Rapids select........................Leftback Marcello Borges of Michigan. [shipped immediately to the Switchbacks on loan ]
going through all the Rapids threads - where did I miss the announcement that the entire Rapids FO had been replaced with people who would actually try? Yes, I might be a bit cynical. I am heartened by the appearance of timely moves attempting to improve the squad and season results.
With the #42 pick in the draft the Colorado Rapids select........................CB Jacob Hauser-Ramsey of UCONN [shipped immediately to the Switchbacks on loan }
So today we added Feilhaber, Shinyashiki, Borges, Hauser-Ramsey, and $75K of GAM and lost Hairston. That's a pretty good day I'd say.
As I typed this morning, WHO IS THIS RFO? They actually have something going. Not saying we are there yet, but I expected this to be a throw-away year until we get our 2 DP's. Heck, in Rapid terms that meant our next 2 wastes of big money. I love the trade-up today. Solid work and we really should give some kudos when the RFP does something right (just like I bitch when they didn't). rod.
So who's exiting next? Gashi, Bomberg, Boateng, Nicholson, and/or Wilson? I can't see the wheeling and dealing being done.
Well Rod.........maybe I shouldn't let the cat out to the bag but........JasonMa was recently been promoted from Rapids thread junkie to the RFO. He has taken our constant bitching and moaning and said I'm gonna do something about it. Low and behold we've had some positive wheeling and dealing. He's done more in 4 weeks that the previous RFO did in 10 years. Oh beers are on Jason. He got the pay raise.
