Because it's a double header with the Houston Dash (NWSL) team at 8pm (it's humorous that the game that's going first is one that could go to extra time).
does the women's team get good attendance there or something? usually you'd want the strongest draw to be last.
I would guess it was scheduled first, as it's a regular season game, right? Then the USOC draw comes along and they go, "where can we stick this game?"
That's my assumption as well. Also it's not like Houston has drawn a ton more than the Dash in the US Open Cup. This same game last year drew around 6,300 people. The Dash averaged 5,600 last season.
So, I guess we're assuming a starting XI here, minus Zusi, Dom, and Besler? Medranda - Blessing? - Gerso Espinosa - Ilie - Feilhaber Sinovic - Ellis - Opara - SAS Melia Have no idea where Rubio is on his game fitness, but it would be nice to see him up top. Not a perfect like-for-like for Dom, but probably better than Blessing. Maybe Salloi could get the start in the middle, he seems to do better when he's in from the start and apparently he has a knack for USOC play. But yeah, based on the lineup we saw against Minnesota, I have to think we're going guns-a-blazin'.
No way Feilhaber plays after the injury this weekend. Saad at CF, Blessing wide, Medranda in midfield if that is the lineup.
Or possibly Jimmy, Blessing, Gerso up front, backed by Roger, Soni, and Ilie? A more conservative midfield but more exciting forward line.
I actually had no idea Benny got an injury this weekend. Was at the in laws and missed the game, only saw the highlights.
Is there any chance we see EPB? He's still questionable. thigh, but I never know what to make of questionable. OTOH, same category as benny, so whatever that means
It means questionable. You may question it. It begs the question. It calls into question. It's open to questioning. To play or not to play...
Well,,,,,maybe. Yes, faster and better on the ball. Not as good in the air as Dom and certainly not as aggressive and pesky for the defenders.
Begging the question is a logical fallacy in which the conclusion is stated in the assumption. Examples: it is what it is; I'm awesome and everyone loves me, therefore I'm awesome. An idea that leads you to follow up question has nothing to do with a logical fallacy.
-- Blessing -- Porter -- Gerso ------ Medranda -- Espinoza ------ ------------------ Ilie ------------------ - Sinovic - Ellis - Opara - SAS - ----------------- Melia ---------------- Bench is EPB, Mustivar, and a bunch of SPR'ers.
Saad travels but doesn't make the 18.... (Juliao too but he's restricted due to internationals allowed in the USOC on game day rosters). They're the only 2 players not on national team duty to not dress in either SKC or last night's SPR game.
Bringing Soony back has been a pretty big bust. Overall, not a bad half of soccer, I thought, considering all the absences, the midweek game, and the Houston heat and humidity. Blessing, Medranda, Espinoza, and Sinovic all looking sharp.
That went just about as well as we could've possibly hoped for. Very well done, boys. A bit lucky that the ref didn't call a PK on SAS but that was a tough call. So Dallas is next, right? Did I hear someone say that game will be in KC?
