I meant what was he doing running so high up the pitch like a box to box midfielder thereby getting way out of position. Curtin had his head in his hands.
Well, Curtin has no excuse for dodging regular season results now. Every decision has to be 100% tailor made to move this team up into playoff position.
Sad. They were actually the better team. Which isn't saying much. Let's be honest, two of the crappier teams in the league on the field tonight. Oh well. Now on to be disappointed by the rest of the regular season.
So McCarthy isn't a PK specialist after all. Rosenberry made it obvious why Jim isn't starting him. He was shockingly bad at times. I'd like to say that Jay Simpson is the biggest waste of money ever, but this team has paid millions in uselessness for M'Bolhi, Edu, Adu...among others...so I guess I'll just have to say he's AMONG the biggest wastes of money in the team's history. Picault will be haunted by the missed opportunities tonight. Sapong might be injured for a while. Really not a great night...
The guy that has the best goals to shots ratio on the team is the one we are going to label "No-Finish"?
That's...not saying much. And last year, didn't we have more production out of our midfield than our forwards? (We did.) Now, I'm not naive enough to think CJ is useless. He does a lot of useful, thankless grunt work in the build up -- and he does it well. But he's not some ace.
Never said he was. But Fafa and Simpson both pounded breakaways into the chest of Meara last night. Either of them score and we don't even go to extra time. Sapong is supposed to be the outlet and the guy that puts early defensive pressure to cause turnovers. You watch that game last night and even in extra time he is harassing the NYRB defenders. Sapong, right now, is fairly low on the list of this team's problems.
As they say in consulting, if you're not part of the solution, there's good money to be made prolonging the problem. CJ is atop my list of "not the answer". Fafa and Simpson may have put it at the keeper, but he was standing in front of the big rectangular goal thingy. Considering NINETEEN shots didn't get directed there, those two shots you mentioned constitute highlights.
