I imagine we'll pay him better if we buy him from Sao Paulo since we know what hes capable of. All things considered, I would say he should be somewhere between Abu and Trapps pay. Maybe like 225-250k for now.
I would say you're probably right except for that story that Artur was not coming back next year. Was that ever validated? I forget the source now.
It was a report from Brazil with no quotes. Berhalter said when asked about it specifically that all options were still on the table.
I was going to say, I thought we had the option to buy at the end of the loan? Are there any circumstances where those terms can change? Other than Artur not wanting to sign with us again for some reason....im not sure I see anything credible that would indicate hes gone after this season.
Also im glad we re-signed Pipa for a year. Thats a good deal. Were not stuck for a long contract but after this solid season hes had, im happy to have him back. Still hope were working on finding his eventual replacement though.
Shoot. Hope he has a speedy recovery. I ran into him a couple weeks ago and he was very friendly and took a moment to chat with me.

That's a really cool visual. Does anyone know what we'd have to pay Sao Paolo for Artur? Just thinking about the money to buy him AND give him a raise. True. And the Galaxatives are punching way below their weight.
There has reportedly been interest from several european teams in him. Also, sao paulo is struggling this year, so not out of the question they could want him to come back and stay home.
Agreed, but he has to want to stay. This isnt like american sports where you can ridiculously send someone away against their will. Lets be real, if he has to choose between coming back to cbus, going to europe, or playing regularly for sao paulo, we all know which one he won't choose.
Yes, but we could get something for him if a European team wants him and probably something from Sao Paulo too. SP should at the least give back our option fee plus loan us another player.
No, because they allegedly want him back. If we exercise our contractual rights, they don't have the player, they have our transfer fee. If they prefer the player, they should pay us at least the fee previously agreed to plus something else. The something else could be additional money but most Brazilian teams are poor. More likely it would be another of their youngsters. If there is interest from a European team, then SP's desire to have him back might simply be a desire to make the sale themselves rather than let us profit from it.
He's under contract already for 2018, thus the option to buy. His contract is cheap at 80K so we'd probably give him an extension and raise if we exercise the option but he's not a free agent.
We have an option to buy. He still has to negotiate a new contract and sign it if the Crew exercise the option. He is on his contract from Sao Paulo at the moment. Also, no one has any idea what the transfer fee is. I am amazed at how many people on this board do not understand how transfers work.
I'm not amazed at the not knowing; I'm always amazed at the pretending to know, or stating assumptions as facts. But then, this is what you have to do to sign a player like Pulisic.
