Alright, time to open predictions for this week! POR v CHI, Apr29, 4pm NC v ORL, Apr29, 4pm BOS v SEA, Apr29, 7pm DC v HOU, Apr29, 7pm NJ v KC, Apr30, 6pm If anyone has any strong feelings about the "total score" +1 in the current scoring system, feel free to say so. Without strong support for it, I think I'm going to strike it from the system, since getting a point for predicting 1-2 on a game that ends 3-0 is kinda silly.
I already expressed my thought about it in previous message, saying that it looked quite "random" to me, so of course it's ok for me for it to disappear. Will it be retroactive? (i.e. the points made with "total score" in these first two weeks will be stripped off the chart?) I can agree with you that the number of goals scored by a team is not as random as the total score, although it still bugs me that it's worth the same as the W/L/D guess. But I can live with it. Way to go, STT!
Judging by Blaze20's result, slowly pondering until the last available moment pays... But I am going to dive in headlong, anyway! POR 3-1 CHI NC 2-1 ORL BOS 0-3 SEA DC 1-1 HOU NJ 1-0 KC
Portland 2, Chicago 1 North Carolina 1, Orlando 0 Boston 1, Seattle 2 Washington 1, Houston 1 SkyBlue 1, Kansas City 0
POR-2 v CHI-2 …took Blaze20’s advice, changed from 3POR – 1 CHI NC- 2 v ORL-1 BOS-1 v SEA-2 DC-0 v HOU-2 NJ- 1 v KC-1
Portland 2, Chicago 2 North Carolina 3, Orlando 2 Boston 1, Seattle 3 Washington 1, Houston 2 SkyBlue 1, Kansas City 1 I hate to predict ithat zero or no goals will be scored -- and I always seem to predict that more scores will be scored than will be. Wishful thinking?
According to an Italian coach of the ancient past, Annibale Frossi, 0-0 was the perfect result in soccer: in his eyes, it meant that the two teams had completely annuled each other, thus reaching a stale-mate, as in a chess game perfectly played by both contenders.
This makes me wonder: as long as one of us remains within the deadline for predictions, is it accepted to change one's mind and modify a result, or once you posted your prediction you are tied to it for good? Not that I want to change any of my predictions, it's just to know. Although I guess that late changes would be a little too much taxing for STT who has to keep track of everything...
For SB-KC predictions, no Kerr at Sky blues game on Sunday [emoji24]. (Went home to win an award for best forward in W league) Not that she's been tearing it up
Ah ah, Blaze20 misled everyone with her advice about POR-CHI drawing, then zags the other direction! I like this strategy!
oh btw I will be making the retroactive correction for dropping the "total goals" +1, I just haven't had much time this week to do so. Will try to do that when scoring week 3.
Well, with the old rules I would have anyway got a point for my completely messed up Seattle prediction! So it does make sense that the "total goals" +1 score went away.
Score updates will be a tad bit late this week - I spent Thursday evening through late last night helping staff a convention and need some recovery time.
No Problem. Luckily I was the only one, along with BlueCrimson, to nail Sky Blue's 1-0 win, or it would have been a bloodbath for me this week. -_-" Edit: also it helps that those who predicted the opposite, 0-1 instead, now don't get that famous +1 bonus
Happy for SB's win. Just wasn't sure a Kerr-less and Pearce-less team could hold KC. My season prediction for KC is going to be widely thrown off with the loss of Arod I think.
