You can dis Schatz (I recognize it may be in fun), but she is one of the reasons why Portland gives such great support to women's soccer. When the U of Portland Pilots were a premier team, she was a local TV sports reporter, and she regularly had reporting on, and footage of, Pilots games in her station's TV sports after their games. She helped build Portland support for women's soccer.
Mmm, after the first three games of the week-end I've already got 6 points (2 per game)... Something bad for me surely has to happen in the last two...
Actually, I think Ann Schatz, is great, as I have previously mentioned. Good to learn she has a substantive positive impact in Portland. --- I did not realize until later, that we were getting the local WRAL broadcast that was sent out nationally due to Go90 facilities being in harms way. I actually miss most of the previous years' NWSL home announcers, especially coach Gallimore.
Off from work yesterday so here are the tables now. CoachJon inches closer to lunatica's first place hold while lil_one loses some ground. My table order got all screwed up because of the rescheduling so please feel free to double check what I input as your predictions on the Game List. Also, an idea for next season. So people are encouraged to keep going, I've seen other pick-ems drop the worst two rounds from each participant. This essentially allows someone to miss a week and not be out of it. For an example of how this would affect the charts, bluecrimon and coachjon would be tied for first with 127. The highest single week dropped score would be 4 pts. However, if I spot cpthomas his 7 pt/w average, he'd be at 136.
Ok, the only true purpose of these prediction from me is giving Seattle Reign a lifeline... Let's see: ORL 0 POR 3 WAS 1 BOS 1 HOU 1 CHI 1 NJ 2 NC 1 SEA 5 KC 1
Orlando 1, Portland 2 Washington 1, Boston 1 Houston 0, Chicago 1 SkyBlue 0, North Carolina 2 Seattle 2, Kansas City 2
Orlando 1 v Portland 1 Washington 2 v Boston 1 Houston 1 v Chicago 2 NJNY 1 v North Carolina 1 Seattle 2 v Kansas City 1
Orlando 1, Portland 1 Washington 2, Boston 1 Houston 0, Chicago 2 SkyBlue 1, North Carolina 2 Seattle 3, Kansas City 1
almost forgot & did not check injury report => ORL 2-1 POR [Morgan] WAS 2-1 BOS [ Pugh] HOU 0-2 CHI [Ertz donut] NJ 1-3 NC [Riley's birthday] SEA 2-1 KC [King Crab > Steak]
Planned on looking into this more earlier but debacle trying to get an oil change done today ORL 2-3 POR WAS 2-1 BOS HOU 1-2 CHI NJ 1-2 NC SEA 1-1 KC
lil_one leaps back up to be tied for first with lunatica. It would be fitting if you two end up tied. CoachJon is now 2 pts back. 6 games left. 18 pts up for grabs. hell, no one even got a single point for correct # of goals from either side. Looking back through the weeks, there's been 3 games where all of us got a big fat donut. Week 3 involving another Boston 3-0 win against Seattle. And Week 17 with the 2nd 5-4 game between SB and Seattle which SB took. __________ Now onto the final week. Rescheduled game between Dash and Courage tomorrow with Dash at "home" 5 hrs away from Houston. Do we see Carolina take the shield? Do they rest players? Is O'Sullivan going to extract revenge and score a hat trick on Houston? (yeah, I'm still bitter) Wed Sep 27 Houston Dash vs North Carolina Courage Sat Sep 30 Portland Thorns FC vs Chicago Red Stars Washington Spirit vs Seattle Reign FC Boston Breakers vs Sky Blue FC North Carolina Courage vs Orlando Pride Sun Oct 1 FC Kansas City vs Houston Dash
From which match-day was it? I don't remember if I had already predicted and/or if I want to change my prediction, but I need to know when it was scheduled initially, to find it again here. Anyway, with this week's 3 points, I am melancholically drifting definitely out of contention: quite fittingly, the same as my Seattle Reign FC did... Oh, well!
Wk 18, Aug 27. Here are the original predictions: Dash - NC blissett 0 - 2 bluecrimson 2 - 1 cpthomas 1 - 1 lunatica 0 - 2 lil_one 1 - 2 coachjon 1 - 2 smallchief 1 - 2 59amerinorsk 2 - 2
Its the game that was rescheduled because of Harvey, so it was originally the weekend of August 26-27. EDIT: 'd by @LucyFearsTheMorningStar who even had time to look the past predictions.
Thanks to both. I guess I'll stay with my original 0-2 prediction for HOU-NC. I'll come back later to predict last match-day's games.
I get to cheat and just copy from my excel file though. lol I still marked them even though the game didn't happen. Since I don't enter a final game score, it doesn't mess with my formulas.
The 9/27 Houston v NC game is a tough one. I'm going with: Houston 1 v North Carolina 2 Here's how my numbers show it: Houston: Goals for per home game: 1.10 Average points of home opponents: 30.70 NC points: 46 Goals against per home game: 1.50 Average points of home opponents: 30.70 NC points: 46 Goal differential per home game: -0.40 Projected score: Houston 1 v North Carolina 2 North Carolina: Goals for per away game: 1.27 Average points of away opponents: 29.64 Houston points: 23 Goals against per away game: 1.18 Average points of away opponents: 29.64 Houston points: 23 Goal differential per away game: 0.09 Projected score: North Carolina 2 v Houston 1 (I'm thinking that Houston's being weaker than NC's opponents is enough to get NC from 1.27 goals to more than 1.5, which I treat as 2 goals. BUT, possible alternative is 1-1) The numbers look mostly like Houston 1 v North Carolina 2. I'd love to go with 1-1 since that would be great for my Thorns, but I work really hard to stay with the numbers. I'd be really happy for the numbers to be wrong and to get a tie. But, my main interest is in how personal views/desires interfere with good objective analysis, so I don't get to call for a tie.
