It seems about time to fire this thread up with rumors starting to circulate. Leipzig's backup keeper Benjamin Bellot seems to be coming on trial here: http://www.transfermarkt.de/rb-keeper-bellot-zum-probetraining-nach-philadelphia/view/news/270909 A backup keeper who will take an international spot? "We're not necessarily looking for good players."
Meh, surely he's better than local helmet. We cleared an international spot with Yaro's loan and I think someone said Herbers was close to his green card.
I don't think we can afford to use another international spot on a backup. Our only international spot starters are Haris and Ilsinho/Herbers.
Since he didn't go anywhere in the off-season, I had this strange feeling he would be leaving in the Summer.
In the summer you get way more transfers worldwide. Might as well do it now because if they keep losing then his stock will decrease.
I think we all assumed Matt Jones would have been better than local helmet and we see how well that turned out.
I'm not convinced he wasn't. Curtin is devoted to certain guys. McCarthy is apparently the best practicing keeper of all time.
Yep that's what I meant, sorry. I think I was looking at Yaro on the roster when I was typing the comment
Yeah some guys, it seems, (Jones, Anderson) are given a single chance and if they blow it they are banished. Others, too numerous to list, are allowed to fail continually.
McCarthy suffered a concussion in practice while wearing his helmet. Sounds like his career might be over.
Yeah, I've wondered about this too. This is at least his 3rd concussion, and 2nd after he started wearing headgear. Not good.
Ayuk's loan cleared nothing, really. We are currently full on international slots with Yaro currently not counting against it because he is on the DL (and Aaron Jones doesn't count because he is on loan as well). If we kept Ayuk he would have been sent on a season long loan to Steel and still not counted against the international limit.
Is it bad that I read that and went "who the heck is Aaron Jones?" (Yes I remembered eventually) I'm really not keeping up with the Joneses!
Marquez has some interest abroad with Atlas apparently being the main player. http://www.metro.us/sports/philadelphia/philly-unions-richie-marquez-getting-overseas-attention
