2-0 winners in Sydney to start out the pre-season. Haven't been able to find any clips of the goals, but then again, I have not looked very hard.
If you go to footyroom there are highlights and extended highlights. Kolasinac played as a centerback and we apparently changed everyone out in 68th minute.
Reiss Nelson looked pretty great in this game -- needs to improve his shot, but looks like a he's a baller.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/101ggv...ttes-individual-highlights-v-sydney-fc-video/ Lacazette highlights. Nice finish on the goal. Great feed to Ox on a break.
You can't take anything away from a game like this but if I could, I'd say Welbz looked rusty, Theo had many chances, Coq was big, Ozil had some nice passes, kids looked good. The games in China will be more telling.
I didn't get to see the entire game but from the commentary and the highlights above... - Several of the youngsters looked awesome. Nelson and Bramall stood out to me - Theo got a number of chances but his finishing was horrible - With no Alexis (and granted a ton of academy guys), Ozil was incredibly active - Thought Martinez looked great in his limited action.
We beat some Aussie pub team 3-1 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-wsw-live-score-updates-10802584
This was fun to watch. A nice switch from all the negative talk on this board (and the Internet at large) about failed transfer targets, players' outrageous wage demands, etc, etc, etc. And REALLY nice to see Mezut acting so jovially, speaking English so much, horsing around with Alexis, etc. And nice to see the latter joining up with the squad in pre-season/tour.
we looked like we got abused pretty hard. cech is gonna cech, i s'pose. that would be an interesting place for elneny to find a way into the lineup if he can adapt.
Watching the highlights, I was stunned by a disallowed goal Bayern scored in the first half that had no business being called offside. Just look at that image for a second. I know it's blurry, but even a blind man can make out the essential information: YES, the giant white sphere between the last defender and the final striker is in fact the ball. And YES, the final striker is STILL onside when the ball is ARRIVING AT HIS FEET!!!! Below is what the linesman saw when the ball is played (give or take a milisecond): Preseason, I get it. But WOW!! You could pitch a tent in all that space.
Arsenal v Chelsea, Chelsea are playing their whole first team for some reason. A good pace about it in the first 15 minutes. The pitch is shocking though.
Smart managers usually use pre-season to get the first team ready for the season; meanwhile we are out here playing Maitland-Niles and Elneny at CB when they will never play there barring 5 or 6 cbs getting injured.
haha...seeonig us lose our shit on Twitter over a FRIENDLY is pretty comical. I think what opposition fans say about us is correct. We're too hyper and in your face. It's why Arsenal Fan TV is a sensation, because it represents that tendency amongst our fanbase. Even if they muller us in the Charity Shield, well good for them, they would have won a non-trophy. I only cared the last time since it was the first time Wenger had beaten Jose in some capacity.
We just looked disjointed, but the make-up of the team, especially the defence, made that almost inevitable. I would imagine there will be players playing in their proper positions from here on in.
