Just to catch up on roster moves: LA signed Michael Ciani (free agent, last with Lorient) as previously rumored. Minnesota terminated Bashkim Kadrii's loan and sent him back to Denmark. Kadrii will not rejoin FC Copenhagen; he immediately went to Randers on loan.
I wouldn't say Bengston was a total bust. Sure, he did almost nothing at all in 2 years, but a lot of these other "busts" are guys who were getting a lot of money, which hamstrung the teams from spending anywhere esle. Bengston had a decent pedigree, 27 years old, a consistent scorer with a decent national team and had played for some decent clubs in Central America. He also made $182,000. He was a "good" signing on paper, but for whatever reason, he didn't work out here. So leave it to the Revs to have one of the lowest-paid "DPs" ever. Not the lowest, you say? That honor would go to the Revs' "first-ever DP," Argentine Milton Caraglio, who was signed at the end of 2011. He made $54,000. He was here for 8 games. He scored 3 goals in that time for an abysmal team, on turf, adjusting to a new league, new team mates, language and travel. Mike Burns decided that he wasn't "productive" enough to exercise the option and let him go to some club in Chile. Moves like that are why Burns is considered one of the brightest stars among all MLS GMs, a man who is said to be 4-5 steps ahead of everyone else, playing 3-D chess when everyone else is playing checkers. That's why the Revs are "on the cusp" of a title this year, right?
And replaces him, unsurprisingly, with the first choice keeper from their USL side. https://www.rsl.com/post/2017/09/11/real-salt-lake-signs-monarchs-gk-connor-sparrow
Well, with only five games left they could have utilized loans if they needed him on the first team, so this seems like a vote in favor of him for 2018.

It's too bad that when he played against Germany he got stuck in the 3rd dimension and allowed that King-ing move right up the near post.
Thanks to you and Evan and the Eric and Red and the other guy, the first thing that pops into my head when I read "Mike Burns" is "Continental Drift". And the weird thing is that I think that is a reference to a piece in the ECG and not PoCM (but clearly inspired by it after Mike was traded to Kansas City). For those missing context, PoCM used to regularly use Mike Burns as a punching bag for one-liners or top ten lists. ECG followed suit. In fact, he's referenced on two ECG covers. But we did do a "Top Ten Things Slower Than Mike Burns" at one point.

I was surprised half of his family wasn't out there. Now I see why they weren't. I also forgot he was still playing...
