Rapids and DP Juan Ramiez (I know, who?) have agreed to a mutual termination https://www.coloradorapids.com/post...-and-juan-ramirez-mutually-terminate-contract
So...he has to go down as one of the worst DPs in league history, right? 3 goals, 265 minutes, 0 starts in Orlando, loaned back to Honduras, waived, signed by an expansion team, never plays, let go to Portugal for (probably) free. 2.5 seasons of almost no production.
There's a lot of competition for worst DP ever. The Chicago Fire get their own division: Nery Castillo Sherjill MacDonald Federico Puppo Juan Luis Anangono But also: Denilson Luis Angel Landin Jerry Bengtson Frank Rost Innocent Emeghara Mista plenty of others could be added to that list. I think you have to give the crown to Mustapha Jarju, though.
You could probably add DC United's Rafael to this list, who outside of one golazo did nothing in a United uniform.
Hey, at least Gilles played in a preseason game. Daniel Amokachi now, he spent one week total in Denver and it was while the team was on a preseason road trip training somewhere else.
Strongly disagree. Gallardo had multiple golazos for United and did far more to make United look dangerous when he was on the field than Rafael ever did.
If you're going to include pre-DP signings, and near-DPs, you have to include Celestine Babayaro. Though I don't blame him for walking out on that trainwreck of a LA Galaxy preseason after playing 45 minutes in one friendly.
Ah, yes. The guy who got handed a multiple game suspension right after announcing he would go by the one name Innocent. The jokes write themselves.
Nico Naess has transferred from the Columbus Crew to Heerenveen. According to the Dispatch, the Crew received a transfer fee double the amount paid to bring him in. The source did not reveal the amount.
