Yeah, Levi's sucks. I'm happy only because I live in San Francisco. For all the matches I've attended, I have never been to a Gold Cup Final.
Gold cup final doesn't usually sell out immediately. And since both US and Mexico fans have been burned in the last two tournaments I don't think it will sell out that quickly.
Funny I vowed never to go back to Levis after the copa but now I might have to reverse that position.
Looks like quarter and semifinals are set: <a href="Philadelphia and Phoenix will host Gold Cup quarterfinal doubleheaders, Pasadena and Arlington, TX will each host a semifinal.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 14, 2017 ">February 14, 2017</a>
Yeah, I think that is how the organizers will structure the draw. Group B winner (assumed USA) and Group B 2nd place will be on the side of the draw with QF in Philly, SF in Dallas. Group C winner (assumed Mexico) and Group C second place will be on the other side with QF in Phoenix, SF in Pasadena. Group A winner to one side of draw to play 2nd place of Group B or Group C. Group A 2nd place to the other half to play 2nd place of Group B or Group C. One third place team in each side of draw against the Group B and Group C winners. That's my best guess. I got the final location wrong so buyer beware.
I mean I can't imagine they put us in the Rose bowl bracket. Even best case scenario we sell like 50k tickets and the stadium is half empty. Phoenix doesn't seem like a great market for us either. But bith would be near guaranteed sell outs for Mexico. Philly is not a good Mexico market. Dallas is kind of the toss up since I don't think we will sell well there but oh well
The two Semi -Finals taking place in two different stadiums threw me for a loop. I did not see that coming.
Makes sense a bit as Mexico can sell out a stadium on their own and the US can get at least half. So why not make more money?
Full groups and knockout schedule announced: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...es-complete-groups-and-schedule-2017-gold-cup For the USA: July 8 vs. Panama in Nashville July 12 vs. Martinique in Tampa July 15 vs. Haiti or Nicaragua in Cleveland If they advance from the Top 2 in the group: Quarterfinal July 19 in Philadelphia Semifinal July 22 in Arlington Final July 26 in Santa Clara The other knockout path is Glendale/Pasadena, with the USA could only get if they advance as a 3rd-place team.
Damn my plan was to drive to Nashville and Cleveland and then philly is close enough but Dallas in three days after is a long haul from philly hah
Will this be the first time the majority of our opponents speak some sort of dialect of French and not Spanish?
Damn gotta use a different ******** chant. I don't even know the proper French for bitch. Chienne? Putaine?
Well, it ended up being Nicaragua in a thrilling 4-3 aggregate. So Spanish jeers and insults will still be used in the majority of our Group matches.
