Jalapeno McChicken is so damn good. I didn't even turn around when walking to McDonalds and getting stopped by a train. On a side note did i really just spend $12 on beef sticks? When you gotta have beef you gotta have beef
It is with great sadness I report that last night I went to get some meaty treats from Joe and Frank's at the corner of Harlem and Archer and discovered the horrible realization that they are no more! Many a Joe and Frank double smoked kielbasa was consumed by my clan at a Fire tailgate. It is the end of an era and apparently came to pass a few months ago. I am so sad. http://swnewsherald.com/joe-franks-closing-for-good-last-call-at-popular-ethnic-deli-p5965-1.htm
I only went there a few times (always before or after a Fire game), but that is sad news. It does not affect me personally, as I live in a Polish neighborhood, so I can find kielbasa easily, but even on Belmont, the Polish places are disappearing. It does say in the article that the Oak Lawn store is still open, but it is further evidence of the dying of many of the ethnic neighborhoods in Chicago.
Anybody got a recipe for bigos that they are willing to share? All my friends with Polish grandmothers/mothers have failed me, and the multitude of different instructions on the internet has intimidated me out of making the attempt in the past. But after today, I need some, and figure I might as well try.
I need to try that. Oh wait there are at least 10 Mexican restaurants between me and taco Bell. None of them deliver directly to my bed unfortunately
One time Chipotle is enough. Taco Bell is okay at times and very cheap. Naugles was the stuff, though. Too bad it is long gone.
Was that the USOC on way back from Pontiac loss? I remember we stopped there on way back which probably means I did it wrong
Super Tony's at 83rd and Harlem has a quality selection. I also hit the Polish Deli at Austin and Irving Park Road when I get up that way. That part of Archer where Joe and Franks was used to be chalk full of Bohemian joints but now both Joe and Franks and Bobeks and a few other places before my time are gone. https://www.yelp.com/biz/szymanski-deli-and-liquors-chicago
Make sure you go to Acme for oysters. I know you are probably thinking, "Acme is for tourists!" and you would be correct but what you also need to remember is that if you are getting oysters you want them fresh and if you want fresh oysters you should go to a place that sells a TON of them and Acme does that. When I get to NOLA I keep a bunch of cash on handy for my one Acme trip.
