...I think this is needed. Tonight I am going to eat a hotdog and cheese steak as I mentioned in the game day thread. After that going to an expensive Mexican place in Oak Park. New Rebozo. What's on your menu and/ or Restaurant list? Recipes?
Forgot to mention I am going to eat some fancy tacos with beef and bacon and melted cheese more than likely.
I've been marinating beef for about a week now in heavy spices. Will try to fry that up today with some sweet potato fries. Making my customary gameday potato and cheese pierogi too.
Forgot to add this: If anyone lives on the NW side of Chicago and ever wants some GREAT Serbian food (and Slivovitz) visit SunnyDay tap (4953 N Elston) you will not be disappointed.
When I hit king spa in Niles I always try to hit Amitibul on Milwaukee - excellent Korean Buddhist restaurant . it's all vegan but it's so damn good you won't care.
I concur. I was there once, a friend of mine had his company's Christmas party there. It was excellent. I would be interested in going again.
early weekdays when I get the chance, get there about 6 am , leave around 10:30-11 and hit Amitibul for lunch. I can arrange that once every few months and it is well worth it.
My brother and I also do a near south side/ south loop holy Trinity in an afternoon when we can. We hit Jim's original, Al's and Manny's in one afternoon.. one after the other... It's kind of like what Louis CK does on his show but way less extreme. Start with a Polish ..the a beef and end it at mannys for a knish and dessert
Made myself a burger with onions, red pepper, and jalapeño during half-time. Washed down with a Pollyanna Lexical Gap IPA. So glad I was at home instead of a bar (or God forbid Toyota Park) for the game. I got caught in the snow twice on my bike today and ******** that.
Unable to hit the game today, just swung through the north side and picked up the gyros combo plate / cold spread combo and a spinach pie at Central Gyros .. Oh yeah!
Went to Armand's Pizzeria today in Elmwood Park. A former mob hangout for much of the Chicago Outfit.
Di Nico's in downtown La Grange is great. The pizza is okay, but a "slice" is only $6. That "slice" basically a whole fourth of a pizza. This has been my dinner for at least two nights per week for the last three or four weeks.
I live right by Central Gyros, but haven't been there in ages. I think I have to go there this weekend. Good suggestion! My girlfriend is a huge fan of the grilled octopus from there.
I wish I could rep all of this central Gyros talk more. I haven't been there in about 10 years and miss their avgolemono entirely too much... When I make it back home I usually try to get to the Los Comales in Pilsen, Hema's Kitchen on Devon and Topolobampo/Frontera. Also I hear it's gonna be a nice weekend there as well, enjoy it folks! I woke up to a foot and a half of snow this morning with another 2-4 feet coming today-tomorrow.
I opted for Krispy Krunchy chicken on Irving Park and Menard. Moist, tasty and crunchy. Decent jumbalya and good fries.
