We should rest players. It's no joke to play 3 games in 5 days. I'm not sure what Mexico will do. They might have to play the starters to get to the final.

I'm sure we will, probably play starters for a half and then get the backups in

That wouldn't be resting starters to play starters from beginning then using the allotted 3 subs in the second half. That would just be normal game strategy.

What I learned from my time in Texas is that the vast majority of native Mexicans don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. They (with affection) called it Cinco de Gringo. 90% of Americans probably think its a celebration of Mexican Independence Day, which it isn't.

Anyway, we'll probably go with a B+ team against Cuba. Some starters, some reserves. Cuba did beat Canada, so they're better than a Caribbean minnow.

Anyone who hasn't played every minute should be out there.
LB-Gloster - sat out a game or two
CB-Vasquez - Sat out El Salvador
CB-Sands - Has played every minute. Only exception to my rule
RB-Watts - I like his play and Lindsey has played every game
DM-Goslin - Hasn't played every game nor minute
    DM- Booth
    CM- Acosta
RM- Carlton - Get him some confidence with some goals. Early sub to Weah in almost every start. Sit him early 2nd half. And selfishly I want to see him
    LM- Weah
    CF- Reynolds

Also, it's kind of tough to rest all your starters when you only have 20 guys on the roster. ;)

Need a keeper, Dos Santos, Switch Weah and Reynolds positions, and spell Carleton's name correctly, and I like that lineup. :D

I suppose that we all know this but I might as well post it just in case.

A tie or better puts us in the final.
Any result better than losing by five goals puts us in the world cup.

As for the Mexico - Costa Rica game. A tie or better puts Costa Rica in the final due to having scored more goals. It's far from certain that we'll see Mexico again.

Qualification is more important than anything else. Start a strong enough lineup to bust Cuba and sit guys as soon as it makes sense. They get to earn rest by scoring goals.

That means only 3 get rest and not alot of it. Balance talent, rest, and winning. That's why we don't coach.

@SUDano This is exactly the kind of lineup I was talking about. Maybe not best on paper but good enough to do the job and you can rest a few starters if we earn it.

I'm going to guess Lindsey at CB. He started the cycle as a CB. Booth and Vassilev will be DMs with Acosta as the 10.

Yup. Balance between starters and backups with a few stars and a few reserves. Surprised he starts Akinola and Sargent and not Sands and Goslin.

He's not taking his foot off the petal is he? Maybe part of this is that Sargent is in second pace with 5 goals?
