Bedoya's wife is expecting their second child very soon. It would not surprise me if he is released as well.
The USMNT CM has been mediocre for a couple years actually, and "backpass" Bradley is a big constant of the mediocrity. His goal @AZTECA was brilliant, but does not make him an "outstanding player". He has neither the skill or athleticism to counter skilled CMs. Much rather see younger (and substantially more skilled) options, like Acosta and Nagbe, get game time even if they suffer growing pains.
Funny, I thought Dax was the best player vs Ghana and Corona was good. I thought Dax was the worst player vs Panama and Corona was bad.
I am by no means a fan of MPIBB, but I still haven't seen anyone who plays better or more consistently as he does. I heard Perry Kitchen, Wil Trapp, Roldan, Nagbe, Acosta, Alfredo Morales, Danny Williams, and probably 3-5 more and none of them is as good at breaking up the attack as MPIBB. Most of them are 8s trying to play 6, and the ones who aren't haven't showed anything to suggest they'd be better. I'm just resigned to him at this point. Hopefully McKennie, who I have very high hopes for, will be the one to replace him. But 2 years from now, I could see him being the 8 while an aging MPIBB is still the 6.
Honestly Bradley and JJ are still the top options. McKennie and Derrick Jones are the two guys in line to step into the team if they raise their levels.
Bradley, Acosta, Sacha, Dax, Roldan. All our options are at the same level, Bradley just has more experience and is slower. Only difference is that Acosta and Roldan are younger.
I'd like to see Bruce settle into some consistency in some places (wings, backs) and have use a couple of friendlies to move Cameron into the #6, and move Besler or Gonzo into CB...just to test those waters and consequently to put some pressure on Bradley to be sharper.
Those guys are not at Bradley's level. Not really even close. C'mon, people...think through these things.
I did and my conclusion is "play Bradley but figure out who helps him deliver". For Klinsmann it was Beckerman, for Vanney it's Delgado. It was never Jones, Bedoya, etc. Maybe it's a combination of Dax and Delgado and Zardes. That would be my answer. Not all at the same time, necessarily. Bradley has a good aerial pass. He needs a complementary player who can hit up tempo ground passes. That's why Jones was never a great partner, for one thing. Nor Bedoya. Zardes' pass out of the back is splendid - he just has a harder time closer to goal. Dax and Delgado both add a good passing quotient. Roldan's passing is a lot more like Bradley's. They are actually similar in style overall.
Not the worst. I don't like Zusi and Bedoya, but otherwise it's fine. Excited to see Miazga. I think he'll pair well with Besler, who is also pretty good at playing out of the back.
Panama is up 3-0 on Martinique in the 70th minute. We need to at least match their scoreline to win the group and avoid Costa Rica in quarters.
