Sad to think that LAFC, with just a couple of players so far, is already going to be better than the Union. But, that’s primarily because of their who’s-who ownership group that has ambition and means. Thanks money-ball.
Wasn't it Soccernomics that pointed out that, while transfer fees have no correlation with team success, yearly salaries do correlate strongly with performance on the field.
Not sure if you were making a counterpoint or just an adjoining point, but I certainly had player salary in mind (beyond the cap) as well as non-player personnel resources and costs of doing good business in the market.
Wonder how long until the team acknowledges this. I agree with Kinkead/Zeitlin/DeGeorge that the Union FO should've released a list of outgoing players once their season concluded. Roland Alberg has officially signed a contract with CSKA Sofia for 2 years. pic.twitter.com/dKPDQbOpax— Victor Getsov (@VictorGetsov21) October 31, 2017 From CSKA Sofia's website: Roland Alberg has signed a two-year deal starting January 1. https://t.co/ZlVB863l4N— Joe Tansey (@JTansey90) October 31, 2017 CSKA officially attracted the Dutch Roland Alberg. The new signing signed a 2-year Preliminary Contract with the Army, which will enter into force on January 1, 2018. The offensive footballer comes from the US Philadelphia Union, where for the last two seasons in the Premier League (MLS) he has recorded 53 matches and 16 goals. Previously, Albert played successfully two and a half years for the Dutch ADO Day Haag, which in 71 matches in Eredivisie also scored 16 hits. The 27-year-old player is 180 centimeters high and acts as a playmaker. He is a youth of AZ Alkmaar, and his card shows more stay with over 50 matches and 11 goals for local Excelsior, as well as transfer to the elite Turkish Elazigspur. Roland Alberg is a former teenage and youth national of the Tulips. "I look forward to joining my new teammates. I know what kind of club I come from - with rich history and traditions, with incredible audiences and the atmosphere of the stadium. I am a temperamental player and all that completely coincides with my desire to go ahead and win success "were the first words of Albergen to CSKA.BG . The management, the sports and technical staff and all CSKA Football Club employees wished Roland Alberg with a lot of success with the red jersey!
Pontius and Fabinho are out of contract.Herbers contract declined because his GA status is expired & the Union are on the hook for much $.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) November 1, 2017 Herbers and Aaron Jones are a bit of a surprise.
It's almost like I had a premonition. Too bad I have no idea who this guy is. https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/p...elphia-union-exercise-2018-options-11-players Picked up the options: Andre Blake* John McCarthy Jake McGuire Jack Elliott Raymon Gaddis Keegan Rosenberry Warren Creavalle Marcus Epps Derrick Jones Adam Najem Fafa Picault Contracts already guaranteed for 2018: Richie Marquez Auston Trusty Josh Yaro Alejandro Bedoya Anthony Fontana Haris Medunjanin* CJ Sapong Jay Simpson Declined options: Aaron Jones Oguchi Onyewu Ken Tribbett Giliano Wijnaldum Roland Alberg Maurice Edu Fabian Herbers Ilsinho Charlie Davies Our of contract: Fabinho Chris Pontius Hold contract option for the 2018 season: Eric Ayuk *At least we know if they get sold in January we'll presumably get something in return.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ilsinho is back next season at a lower salary. Possibly Herbers and Fabinho as well.
Kinda lol'd when they asked Earnie if they were waiving Herbers just to renegotiate, and he went "YEP."
I would take Fabinho back. Yes he got burned on a few games but also was instrumental on a few other. What else is really out there (inside the team)?
The speculation is that Matthew Real is going to be the starting LB next season but I don't believe that will be the case.
Raymon Gaddis - 2018 starting LB (though they might move Keegan to that side 'cuz, you know, why not!?)
Didn't see this on here yet, but KK tweeted earlier that he heard Ilsinho's coming back on $225-$250K. Thumbs up from this guy for a good deal for everyone.
As long as this doesn't set the expectation that Ilsinho, Najem, Fontana is an acceptable depth chart at the #10, this would be a good move.
If I read this right, Pontius will go the Free Agent route and the Union do not intend to make an offer...
The Union interns put out that Boyz II Men video thanking Alberg, Onyewu, Pontius, and Edu for their services. We know Roland is gone, all signs point to Pontius doing the free agent thing, Edu was an albatross ... the only one I'm truly bummed about is my man-crush Gooch.
