Cameroonian dude signed, but for BSFC. I bet they finish a lot higher in the USL table than the Union finish in MLS.

Nobody reporting on the fee, or the money over 3.5 years. I'd love to see it, though, as it would probably prove that we weren't really that interested in him.
Yeah, I'm curious too. It didn't sound like we were competing with the EPL when we were linked to him so I wonder if they are a late suitor.
Just figured out why we don't have our new #10 yet...Earnie put a transfer bid in for Messi and is patiently awaiting a response from Barca!
He’s basically just Messi with a handlebar mustache and body hair. Pretty pumped to see how he slots in.
It could be worse, we could become like the Phillies and end up with "Wrong Brother" Syndrome. Jeremy (not Jason) Giambi Juan (not George) Bell Mike (not Greg) Maddux Mark (not Al) Leiter Frank (not Joe) Torre Vince (not Joe OR Dom) DiMaggio ... there are more, believe it, or not.
So apparently at the draft Earnie said to expect the CAM we are waiting for but now the story is don’t expect much. This man truly is a bullshit artist. If the substantial signing(s?) are done this was yet another blunder of an offseason... Accam is great but only one player.
I've come to the conclusion that I shouldn't believe most of what comes out of his mouth. I get the impression that anything he says publicly about potential player moves is intended as misdirection for whatever clubs/agents his is negotiating with. He's probably trying to let NE know that he isn't willing to give up much of a transfer fee for Lee Nguyen, so they shouldn't get greedy. The Krafts are stingy and probably are insisting on a king's ransome, so who knows if it will actually get done.
This is exactly right. History has shown that Earnie's intentions tend to be the exact opposite of whatever he states publicly. So if Earnie says that the Union are happy with what they have, it means that they are actively trying to get someone. If we all know that, everyone that he's negotiating with knows that as well. He needs to pull the "misdirection to the misdirection" every now and then to keep everyone guessing.
To me it all comes off as setting low expectations so if they some how do something good it looks great by comparison because the expectation was set so low to begin with. If they don't exceed the low expectations they have the fall back of saying... "it's what we've been saying all a long"
I'm hoping Nguyen continues this for a little while, makes himself a league pariah, and the Union can then afford him. The Union really need start embracing the idea of striking while the iron is cold. It's the only way they can get good players on Jay's budget. Next times Suarez bites a guy...Earnie needs to be on the phone. When Herrera punched that guy at the airport and got fired from the Mexico job...they should have been outside the police station with a contract. When that Leicester City orgy thing happened...the Union should have been on the phone. I mean, I don't want to lower our standards too much. The racist guy at the orgy can stay, but we'll gladly take the other, non-racist orgy players. But you get my point. The worse this gets, the cheaper he is, the more likely the Union might actually get him.
I'm thinking some of you misheard Earnie. Taken out of context he did say to not expect much more, but that not much more (but not nothing) was in reference to adding one more player who is presumably the number 10. Here are his quotes from the Accam press conference transcribed by yours truly: "There will be a little more happening but not much more"..."with the acquisition of David and hopefully one more player in the near future, we'll be in a good position to compete for playoffs"
You are correct. Translating to English, he meant , "We intend to bring in a Number 10. I don't want to talk about any of that publicly until we have a deal in place. After that, we may not do much, but we'll see what happens."
And at the same time, if I were to really read between the lines here....from everything I've heard he's only referenced "a" player that they're targeting. If the deal with this one player doesn't get done, we may be SOL until the summer.
