Some lucky results and a big win vs FTL and we're in first. Not saying it's anywhere near likely, but it's nice to know that it's possible that we'll be top of the league after this weekend. It feels nice to finally be good.
didn't we have a decent spring last season and then shit the bed through the summer? i'm not saying that's going to happen, but...
We were 3W-4D-3L in the spring season last year, good for fifth, and overall that was decent, I suppose. But getting to that point required drawing the eighth game, then winning the ninth and tenth; before that, we'd lost three in a row. It's true that our start this year isn't vastly different rom last year (2-3-0 vs. 1-3-1). But the general level of play has seemed higher this year, and we seem to have a coach with a sense of what he's doing. Barring catastrophic injuries (or Hankinson going mad), I don't see this team collapsing.

Jacksonville Armada 2:00 pm ESPN3 FC Edmonton v. Carolina RailHawks 3:00 pm ESPN3 NY Cosmos v. Tampa Bay Rowdies 6:00 pm OWS BYE: Miami FC Huge game for Indy this week. A win would put the Eleven right in the Spring title chase. A loss and it is hard to see a path to the Spring title. Obviously overall points for the playoffs at the end of the year would still be at stake in the last 3 games but it would sure be nice to stay in the Spring race until the end.
Remaining games for the top 6: 1. MIN: @ind, TBY, @rok, MIA 2. CAR: @edm, BYE, JAX, @ind 3. COS: TBY, ROK, @ftl, BYE 4. EDM: CAR, @mia, BYE, FTL 5. IND: MIN, @jax, @mia, CAR 6. TBY: @cos, @min, OTT, @jax. This really shows how important this weekend is. The current top six all play each other. There are only 2 games with those teams head-to-head the rest of the way.

Looks like what should be an easy 3 for us Saturday. Hopefully some of the other bottom of the table teams can help us out a bit.
Key word here being "should." But I'm taking nothing for granted. Indy historically has played to the level of their opponents; we've seen some pretty terrible performances against weak teams.
3 weeks to go in the Spring! Jacksonville and Miami are already eliminated from the Spring race. Rayo and Ottawa could go this week. It is another top of the league against the bottom this week. Current #1 Cosmos host #8 Rayo. New York needs to build up a lead. #2 Edmonton is at #11 Miami. Same thing as the Cosmos. The Eddies need points since they have a bye next week. #3 Minnesota hosts #7 Tampa Bay. This is United's highest ranking team left on the schedule. A win would put them in great shape. #4 Indy is at #10 Jacksonville. This is the first of two straight road games for the Eleven against the bottom of the league. They need wins, not ties. #5 Carolina is on a bye. They need losses or at least ties by the teams above them. Remaining games by the contenders: 1. COS: ROK, @ftl, BYE 2. EDM: @mia, BYE, FTL 3. MIN: TBY, @rok, MIA 4. IND: @jax, @mia, CAR 5. CAR: BYE, JAX, @ind Just one game left among the top five and that is at the very end.
If we take care of business these next two weeks that Carolina game at home would be huge, and a great atmosphere.
BTW, the league tie-breakers are: 1. Goal Difference 2. Goals scored 3. Head-to-head 4. Away goal difference/Away goals scored Right now Indy (+4) trails New York (+7) and Minnesota (+5) on goal difference and on goals scored: Indy 10, New York 13, and Minnesota 13. The head-to-head wins against the Cosmos and United might still be the difference. Of course the goal is to have a lot on the line against Carolina on June 11.

Here's the deal for the Spring Season: The Cosmos wrap it up with a win on Saturday. If the Cosmos tie, Indy would win the Spring with wins in the two remaining games. If the Cosmos lose, Indy would win the Spring with two wins. A win and a tie would put the Eleven into a tie with the Cosmos. A tie that Indy would probably lose. My standings up above are incorrect. NY is actually at +8 with Indy at +4 goal difference. We are not going to make that up with only one win. And, in that case, Minnesota and/or Carolina could leap past with 2 wins. Indy needs to win and see what happens. Either way, 20 points would be a great start toward the playoffs this fall.

OK. Indy needs to beat Carolina by 3 goals and to score 4 doing it to catch the Cosmos. A 3 goal margin would tie New York on goal difference but we need 4 goals to catch them on total goals. Indy would have them on head-to-head. So, 4-1 or better!
