The 2012 olympic team was good, but this teams offensive is a lot better and dangerous. Im expecting SON to score in this game, he just seems dangerous when he dribbles with the ball.
been watching everything on CBC, streaming live feed sometimes it's even w/o commentary (kinda refreshing) - who's doing the NBC commentary?
For some reason, I always expect Korea (of any age lvl) to concede a lot of goals against Mexico and CONCACAF teams.
we actually have a good record against CONCACAF teams, we only have a losing record to Mexico and Canada, equal with T&T, Guatemala, and Cuba, and a winning record against all others https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Korea_national_football_team_all-time_record Fun site to browse - did you know we've never lost to Nigeria? The only CAF team we have a losing record to is Tunisia
I don't pay attention to broadcast teams' names but I'm guessing same guys who keep saying Yang instead of Jang and so forth. The color guy sounds like the guy who does PL hosting.
In terms of overall quality (factoring in talent, balance), it's not close, to be honest. One of our fullbacks was a rising star as was Koo. A peaking Ki. We also had a reasonably-in-form Park Chu Young on that team, the most gifted striker of our generation (whether or not people want to admit it).
I don't know about you guys, but I thought we looked really good against Germany. Even before the third goal, I was getting hungry for the win, rather than hoping to hold out for the tie (even though the fact that we ended up with one was devastating). I think if we can keep that pressure and aggression, it'll alleviate pressure on our error-prone defense, and we should end up with a win, even if we let a few goals get by. Keep in mind - this mexico team let fiji score on them.
A lot was in retrospect tho. We were down a CH, I think two FBs, and eventually a GK. And we also struggled at times too then.
I hope Korea wins because I know my Mexican friends from the Sunday league will not stop giving me shit about this if they lose
