I really like Cardone. He did well when given a chance with the Scorpions. In fact he was on the team of the week if memory serves me correct. Not a huge Rafa, as I think he has lost a step, but I do think his experience is great for a new team.
Want more good news? Good. A quad of local flavor has joined San Antonio FC for 2016! pic.twitter.com/XTn7NBzMfQ— San Antonio FC (@SanAntonioFC) February 5, 2016 695425275622850562 is not a valid tweet id

very excited about who we have signed so far. and for that matter, from the coach to the front office personnel, it appears SSE has activated the Avenger Initiative!
So far this is what the team looks like. From what I get from the announcements. GK: Matt Cardone Josh Ford D: Matt Gunderson Stephen McCarthy Fejiro Okiomah Milton Palacios Sam McBride Greg Cochrane M: Carlos Alvarez Victor Araujo Rafa Castillo Danny Garcia Miguel Salazar Micheal Reed Sabastien Thuriere F: Jason Johnson Manolo Sanchez Shawn Chin
BREAKING: MLS striker Jason Johnson (@reggae_j11) joins SAFC for 2016 season. Welcome to San Antonio, JJ! #OurClub pic.twitter.com/Nn9Bz26LNi— San Antonio FC (@SanAntonioFC) February 16, 2016
So who do we think will be the starter at goalie? I think Matt Cardone has good potential, but Ford has MLS experience.
I like what I saw of Matty ... I'd give him the nod knowing the experience and ability you've got ready to go if he falters. Johnson is a pretty decent signing. Obviously the other signings up top will determine things but I was very happy with that pick up.
Updated.. Chin and Reed as well. so that puts the team at 18 so far. Midfield looks to be strong with Alvarez, Arauju, Garcia and Castillo as most likely starters.. Although I personally would like to see Castillo come off the bench.. think his legs would be fresher for the season. Defense look to be solid with McCarthy, Cochrane and Okiomah and I would guess Palcios As far as forwards JJ I think will be the one starter locked in.. Sanchez was listed as a MF with Red Bulls so not sure how that will look. Looks like a solid team.. on paper, not sure how it stacks against the rest of the USL West!
http://www.empireofsoccer.com/former-red-bull-manolo-sanchez-joins-san-antonio-fc-45092/ Sanchez signed with the Red Bulls senior team last season, making three appearances with the first team. However, he spent the majority of the year with Red Bulls II in the USL, appearing in 22 matches and scoring four goals and an assist. “Manolo is a direct forward who can play in numerous positions along the front line in a number of different roles,” said SAFC head coach Darren Powell. “He’s strong, aggressive, positive and likes to get to goal.”
GK: Matt Cardone Josh Ford Lee Johnston D: Matt Gunderson Stephen McCarthy Fejiro Okiomah Milton Palacios Sam McBride Greg Cochrane Bobby Moseley (loan) Austin Dunker M: Carlos Alvarez Victor Araujo Rafa Castillo Danny Garcia Miguel Salazar Micheal Reed Sabastien Thuriere F: Jason Johnson Manolo Sanchez Shawn Chin Looking pretty strong in the back and in the midfield.
