I list multiple players in my protected list that I don't want in an RSL jersey in 2017. My intent on protecting them is to have more control (and trade power) with their movement. If either of those clubs are dumb enough to take Javi, so be it
I agree about having some protected only in hopes to get something in return. If RSL holds onto some of them I would sure have them on a short leash for next season. Either perform or be ready to be traded...to Chicago.
We won't get much in return from any of the minor leagues. At least with another MLS team (Chicago because they suck, and probably won't not suck before these guys age out) can give Garberbucks.
Tony (who is built for the system) to Orlando would be a good move. One Kreis likely would entertain and pay well for
Let's do it first thing tomorrow morning! TONY to ORLANDO at DAWN. Whoever agrees with me can show their support by tying a yellow ribbon around the nearest oak tree.
I'm sure in true MLS fashion, they'll act like they're automatically protected, then after the list is put out, say they aren't, and thus available to be picked in the expansion.
[Channeling Ron Swanson] Wait, wait . . . I worry what some of you heard was me saying this was a great post. What I said was "this is the best post I have ever read."
Unfortunately for this plan, Kreis has a great young Portuguese right back in Ramos, he'd have no use for Tony, much like Cassar!
A thought from Minnesota... There's a difference in my mind about the two Uniteds...Atlanta is building a roster from scratch. We (MNUFC) are upgrading one that already exists. My guess is that there will be a completely different way each approaches the draft...the Super Draft as well, for that matter. We need an upgrade at GK very very badly. Sammy Ndjock can be brilliant one moment, and amazingly inept the next. Plus he has a very bad habit of blaming his teammates for his mistakes, to the point where he's had to be separated from teammates before things came to blows on at least two occasions during games. The other slot we badly need is a strike partner for Christian Ramirez.
The article points out that Charlie Blackmouth is a former youth and UCLA teammate. (Sorry to double post)
a lot of teams (most?) want Rimando. The link here is weak. I think RSL protects him and entertains offers from Atlanta but ultimately says no. Lets get that last year out of Rimando and then let him walk or take a lower number.
