Central FC pulled it off, beating Montego Bay 1-0 to move on to the semifinals. Full Time in Montego Bay - MBU 0-1 Bankers CFC. Goal scored by Mitchell. The Sharks have advanced to the semi... https://t.co/Jh2FqsSKKa— Central FC (@CentralFCTT) March 14, 2016
Yup, I jinxed them. Nice to see Haiti hosting this, I am sick of Ato Boldon and Manny Ramjohn stadiums. BTW, Paul, do you know what is happening with the stadium construction in Port au Prince? There was some story about reconstruction of the stadium (or it even might be brand new one) in Haiti capital after the big quake.
I'm pretty sure that story refers to the national stadium (Stade Sylvio Cator), which was transformed into a makeshift shelter after the earthquake. FIFA and the Korean FA donated funds for installing a new turf field, and the Haitian NT has been playing their games at the renovated stadium since 2011.
If I had a dollar for every promise of new infrastructure and investment in Haiti, I'd end poverty there tomorrow.
Today the Semifinals are at 5:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. USA Eastern (my time). It is 3:48 P.M. my time if that helps you convert time zones. The first game is W Connection vs. Arnett Gardens and the second game is Don Bosco vs. Central FC. Today's winners and the winner of Sunday's Third Place Game qualify for the 2016-2017 CONCACAF Champions League.
Are you sure? CFU say these kick off 5:30PM and 8PM Haiti time. According to timeanddate.com, Port-au-Prince is an hour behind Eastern Time and equal to Central time
Central FC (T&T) defeated Don Bosco (Haiti) 4-2 on penalty kicks after extra-time yielded a 1-1 scoreline. Sean de Silva was Central’s goalscorer in extra-time, and Leston Paul scored the winning penalty. Central FC will now face W-Connection (T&T) in the CFU Club Championship final on Sunday.
**kicks various objects** Congrats, Trinis - at the club level, you guys are the Mexico of the Caribbean. Once again, for Don Bosco it comes down to a Third Place Match against the Jamaicans...
After I posted, I saw one source that said I was right and one source that said what you said. http://cfufootball.org/index.php/cf...entral-fc-advance-to-club-championship-finals is a recap. www.concacaf.com doesn't have anything about these games.
Awesome job, Central! Congratulations! Also, congratulations to Don Bosco (what a name!) and our very own Paul Calixte. Shame for Arnett Gardens. I think that, related to the CCL, Jamaica and T&T should both have one direct slot.
