The most important match of the tournament IMO. Win here then we get at least two shots at the Olympic berth. Lose and we go home... I was never a fan of tournament format for qualification purposes as one slip up in the quarters means going home... way too cruel and I think the old home/away group format was more fair, but it is what it is. Confident that this squad will get the job done but at the same time it's hard to forget that we failed to beat Jordan in 2 matches in the last edition of this tournament... definitely not a squad that we can take lightly and think ahead.
Jordan will be no joke. They even know what's at stake here and they'll be extremely defensive all game. But I fully expect our team to get the job done in regulation.
Lol Shin Tae-yong said in the press conference "Jordan coach, no more bed football" (which should be translated to grassrolling but the translation could have gone differently). The Jordan coach showed unhappy look while listening to translation but ignored the comment. http://sports.media.daum.net/sports/soccer/newsview?newsId=20160122171745977
We'll be gifting them with one of these: It should be nice and snug so that they can cry themselves to sleep, after they lose that is .
I think it's a fantastic gamesmanship from coach shin before the game. Jordan or any of those middle eastern teams are known to do this shtick. Jordan will be no exception of they score first. By putting it out on the open, coach shin is trying get Jordan to play out of their element. Which is exactly what we want.
Well, STY was a bit more polite in his phrasing: "I hope not to see ME's characteristic 'bed football.'"
It will be aired on One World Sports (for those who have it) in the afternoon, in case you miss the early morning stream.
Can't say it's unfair when teams from other continents have been qualifying through knockout tournaments all along. One of the biggest reasons why Korea has qualified as many times as they did was because they were able to take advantage of the home and away format.
