Nothing is dream in football. Football is unpredictable and that is the beauty of it!:D You seems still uneasy!

Actually Iran could win that match if they have kept previous coach. This new coach had no resume. He was simply one of our average NT members from 90s. The match was even. KSA scored on Iranian defense mistake and you guys conceded over your own defense mistake too. The match was not a classical KSA vs Iran that you could see good quality football. KSA after 2006 fell from top Asian team and didn't come back strong (I don't know the reason but people from KSA may know it better). Iran case: we have still good players but the management is simply awful. The new manager at our sport ministry does not pay attention to professional football management specially at youth level and only want to cut back on budgets and rely on their own network which usually are people with below average performance and poor resumes.

We are heading the same path KSA gone after 2002 and eventually 2006. We may stop being as Asian giants if current managers remain at our football federation and ministry of sport.

What is the criteria for advancing for second place teams? I ask because some teams have played 4 games and others 3.

best five 2nd place team from all groups qualified for Qatar
Concerning the groups composed of 5 teams, group A to C : the game with the bottom-placed team doesn't count.

I like your nationalism brother, but it's no use :(
We always field players over 30 years old in youth tournaments, everyone knows that we would lose to Bhutan u17 if we actually fielded a youth side :mad:
Even with this advantage we've had "youth" teams losing to Nigeria 5-0. And what about our senior team? Every time we play a good team (eg. Brazil, Chile) we always lose 6-0, it makes me want to cry :cry::cry:

Yemen >> Uzbekistan as a second place qualifier :

First tournament i can recall where placings were decided on yellow and red cards.
If second place in Group B goes better than Yemen, then Uzbekistan will have been eliminated from the final round because of their poor disciplinary record (6 yellows and 1 straight red)

Any reason why Hagi Gligor was not included for this tournament. Acc. to Wikipedia he has scored 3 goals in 2 matches for the Australian U23 and was the former captain of the U20.

He has only made 3 appearances off the bench for Sydney FC all season in the A-league, so isn't getting a lot of game time. He is also behind a few players in the pecking order like Daniel De Silva, Mustafa Amini, Terry Antonis, Ryan Edwards and Chris Naumoff (and maybe a few others).

I see. I am sorry to hear that. I thought that he was doing well last year. He is still quite young at 21 and hopefully will get more chances down the road. Does the A league have any reserve teams he can play at? He needs playing time to develop further. If not with the reserve team, perhaps a loan to a lower division side would provide that.

There is the National Youth League, which is for the A-league Clubs youth and Reserve players, but it is only an 18 game season from October to March. (It looks likely that this competition may fold next season). Most of the A-league clubs also enter their Youth teams into their home State's NPL competitions (essientially the next tier down from the A-League), that runs from March to September. Although Gligor's Sydney FC don't have a team in the NSW NPL, so he misses out on extra games through Winter.

Perhaps the A League could follow the MLS developmental structure. They used to have a Reserve League intermittently from 2005 to 2012 with a limited(initially 12 and then 14) game schedule, but decided to form a partnership with the USL Pro League(third tier in US soccer pyramid) to integrate their schedule with the MLS reserve teams in 2013-14. Starting this year, all MLS teams are required to have either their own teams or affiliated with existing independent teams in the USL Pro League(rebranded now as United Soccer League), serving as minor league feeder clubs, similar to other major league sports in the US, where their young players can play and develop in a professional setting with a full schedule(28 games) throughout the year.

Al Ain: The AFC U-23 Championship Qatar 2016 Qualifiers for Group B will be held in the United Arab Emirates from May 16 to 24.

The group’s qualifying matches will be held at the Al Qattara Stadium in Al Ain City, in accordance to the decision by the majority of the participating Member Associations and confirmation from the UAE FA.

Group B, which features Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan, had been scheduled to take place at Lahore’s Punjab Stadium from March 23 to 31, but was postponed due to security concerns following recent troubles in the Youhanabad area of the city.

The winners of Groups A, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J have been determined and along with the winners of Group B and five best second-placed teams from all groups will join hosts Qatar at the AFC U-23 Championship 2016, with January’s 16-team competition also serving as Asia’s qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio.

IRAN was unlucky to lose this match as Iran hit the woodwork at least twice and had more attacking game... Luck favoured KSA.
