I hope not but can't find a source disporoving this. His salary bounced to almost $170k from $80k, signed in 2014 for 2015. His salary was doubled in 2016 (10 percent increase this year) but that implies he had a new deal for 2016. Maybe it was a two year deal, but three is more normal. In any case, I'd guess even with another year left, they'll increase his salary again and extend it. In any case, I do hope they're working to keep him.
According to the MLS allocation page (https://www.mlssoccer.com/allocation), the price was even higher than that: CLB used their top slot to acquire Nemeth, then immediately traded him (not the slot) to NER for $200K TAM, $200K GAM, and an international roster spot for 2017-2018. That is why NER now has the #1 allocation slot, rather than CLB; which makes me wonder if NER has another move coming before the order gets reset after the season.
can they bring someone else in now? I admit, I am a caveman and MLS rules often confuse me, but the window closed which usually means , you know, the window closed. Is it still open for allocation players?
I believe trades within the league can still happen. And I think out of contract players can still sign.
Savvy move by New England. Guess the price tag makes more sense, then. I wonder how much Sporting KC were offering for just the allocation spot? Based on Vermes' comments, I'd guess in the 100-200k range.
Is there any news that we're taking a chunk of our new riches and sweetening the offer to EPB? I would like to think this is also happening
It's a savvy move, but a really odd one. Of the clubs that were rumored to be interested, NER never made sense. DC made sense, and found a like for like option (though still a project). We made sense. A lot of clubs made sense. NER was not one of them, though
Possibly, but it is no secret at all he wants Europe. I'd also be surprised if we use TAM/GAM on him at the same time, he's not going to get that kind of contract with that kind of raise I don't think.
Not what "the people" obviously wanted, but I like it. No risk, and you can point to the 4 SPR players given SKC contracts in the last 9 months as a recruiting tool for bringing in young talent into the SPR pipeline.
SKC's release calls him a holding midfielder. Maybe Ilie finally gets a game off tomorrow, along with Espinoza (replaced by Mustivar)? Crazy talk, I know.
I can't see Vermes playing anything other than a starting XI against Seattle. Would love to be shown otherwise.
Yeah I'd love to see it, but til he shows me, I still expect t 4-5 of the guys that have already played 210 minutes this week to start
So we signed 15 year old Busio to a first team contract. I can't imagine he plays for SKC for a while, but interesting. also, great photo with the Star story
I wonder if we've already missed the window to sign Jaylin Lindsey. At this point, he's close enough to wait until he's 18 and sign in Europe.
Pretty big signing, really. Second youngest player ever to be signed to an MLS contract. I have to imagine this is just PV playing MLS Stock Market, though. We'll make a ton of money on him when he goes to Europe, but I can't see him playing in more than a handful of games for SKC.
When I was a kid, my Dad was driving me home from the store one Sunday morning. He told me that the Royals made an odd choice for a draft pick. The guy had loads of potential, but we wouldn't see him for years, if at all. He was raw, and may just end up playing something else, somewhere else. That player did play for the Royals, and became one of the most electrifying athletes of his generation.
Busio has an EU passport and was getting Euro interest, this is KC trying to make sure they get a fee.
Had no clue. I mean, obviously I've heard of Bo Jackson, but he was already a star when I was in diapers.
