Apparently it was 75% of regular season games and TFC making the conference-semis (which they did) to get the first round pick. We did get TAM and a 3rd round pick last year for him.
FYI- MLS Superdraft Combines started today. Edit: Ives already has wrap up of day1, my bad Started yesterday. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...combine?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Prospect rankings v2 http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/2017-mls-draft-big-board:-version-20_aid41278 http://sbisoccer.com/2017/01/sbi-2017-mls-draft-big-board-version-2-0 Mock Draft v2 http://sbisoccer.com/2017/01/the-sbi-2017-mls-mock-draft-version-2-0
Not sure how reliable this is: Source: Colorado Rapids exploring moves to trade up in the Superdraft. Hearing interest is high with UCLA's Abu Danladi.— MLS Transfers (@MLSTransfers) January 12, 2017
from: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/01/04/armchair-analyst-2017-mock-superdraft-v1-0 Danladi is probably the consensus most talented player in the draft, and when he's healthy there's no question that he's the most explosive. But he's not often healthy, and there are gigantic concerns about his training habits and overall work ethic. He is very much high risk/high reward because of all of the above.
Here's hoping that having a full time coaching staff, trainers and nutritional coaches will help him get and stay fit. If I had a nickel for every time a kid (and Marco Pappa) didn't make it because of his training habits...
I take the player being named with a grain of salt, every sport tries to throw off teams from who they are really interested in drafting. If your moving up, Jeremy Ebobisse is the guy in my book. Edit: well Danladi sure sounds a lot like previous guys we have drafted, wonder how is shooting aim is: Every Generation adidas class has its bejeweled centerpiece. In 2015 it was Cyle Larin. In 2012 it was Dom Dwyer. Whether or not Abu Danladi eventually turns into one of those types of players, he certainly has all the tools to become one of the better drafted forwards in recent memory. Ebobisse is the safer pick between the two, but Danladi has more boom (and, admittedly, bust) potential. Throughout his three years at UCLA, the lightning-clap Ghanaian alternated between moonlighting as the hands-down best player in college soccer and extended periods on the trainer’s table. Danladi’s health inconsistency is a major flag for MLS clubs, but as far as actual playing potential, nobody in this draft pool has a higher ceiling than Danladi. There’s not a single defender in MLS who can match his top speed, and do yourself a favor and roll back some of his best finishes with the Bruins. In top form, Danladi can start just about anywhere in the league tomorrow. If he can stay healthy, of course. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...erdraft-prospects-and-their-mls-doppelg-ngers
I think our set up and esp. PM are more suited to work horses and quarter horses and have had repeated failures with higher maintenance thoroughbreds ...
Interesting that he is Ghanaian. I wonder if we are just trying to make it easy for Ghana to be a Rapids country. Having said that, I agree in misdirection before a draft. I just don't see PM being happy with someone who may not have huge work habits.... rod.
Work ethic and training habit issues...sounds exactly like a player Pablo would never put on the field.
Superdraft Day, 1pm (MT) start I believe. We will see if we move up or not, too bad we lost the 2nd #1 pick from Toronto with Irwin's games played issue.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are our draft picks this year, barring further trades: Currently held picks: Round 1, Pick 15 (from LA Galaxy via JJ trade 12/13/2016) Round 2, Pick 2 (from Atlanta via international slot trade 12/11/2016) Round 3, Pick 1 (from Minnesota via Joe Greenspan trade 12/11/2016) Round 4, Pick 20 (natural) Original picks no longer held: Round 1, Pick 20 (to New England via JJ trade 3/4/2016) Round 2, Pick 20 (to Philadelphia via McMath trade 12/11/2015) Round 3, Pick 20 (to DC via Conor Doyle trade 2/9/2016 - currently held by Orlando, via NYRB from DC) Conditional picks never received: Round 1, Pick 21 (Conditional from Toronto via Irwin trade - games played threshold not reached, pick not earned)
Some final player "rankings" before draft. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/col...ail&utm_term=0_8340315a79-1f90a22a89-31339885 SBI has several things but little content, exception for me was this position rankings. http://sbisoccer.com/2017/01/sbi-2017-mls-draft-positional-rankings
If Rapids like a top guy they should trade all the picks to get it, Draft really is about the top 5 picks and the guys everyone missed (scouting wise) on later. Just go for the sure thing, highly rated guy
Jason was right ~ they announce the transfer money this year $250 K from NYFC -> Chicago for 3rd pick (Jonathan Lewis)
Don't rule out a trade happening after the pick (so instead of trading for the #1 pick we trade for Danladi).
Whereas it's possible, I think it's unlikely. So 5 picks down and I think if Rapids trade up it will be just a few spots.
With their first round pick at #15 the Rapids took Evergreen native Sam Hamilton, a midfielder out of DU who played for Colorado Rush before college.
