The more worrisome thing is why aren't we keeping those guys - either because we can't give them what they're asking for, or we aren't a more attractive option than St Louis/Preki. The only thing that would be better in this scenario is if we are bringing in guys that we're above the skill level of the guys leaving. But that hasn't been the track record thus far.

I'm sure he's going to cherry pick from wherever he can. So far he only has guzman from srfc who was let go before being approached by preki and mirkovic left OC. Kiffe meanwhile turned down an offer from srfc but his destination is anyone's guess

With SJE affiliating with Reno next year, I haven't heard anything about what Republic will be doing. Will we have an affiliate in 2017??

Not quite correct about Kiffe. Doors not closed... but I think he is pondering his career and options. There's lots of respect for SRFC, TBB and fans.

The only MLS clubs without affiliates right now are NYCFC and Minnesota. Can't imagine we'll affiliate with either of those.

Is it possible we exist independently? I know there is a requirement for MLS teams to affiliate with a USL team or have their own, , but not vice versa.

With the noise about NASL I think things could be murky for a long time.

Have OC ever had an MLS affiliate?

From the same article I posted on the media thread this a.m:

English connection – Buckle continues to build bridges with top soccer clubs in his native England.

Buckle spent nine days recently visiting English Premier League clubs Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Manchester City as well as Fulham of the English Football Championship League. He also saw Tottenham play Swansea City and the Queens Park Rangers go against the Wolverhampton Wanderers in league contests.

“I packed in quite a bit in a short period of time, but it was fantastic,” Buckle said. “I went to build on relationships we’ve already created and to start a new one with Manchester City. I was looked at royally by all the clubs I visited.”

"I was looked at royally by all the clubs I visited?" Love those British idioms.

Anyway, the Liverpool relationship has born fruit. Let's hope these others do, too.

    There was also this:

"An invitation has been extended to Crystal Palace to come to Sacramento this summer. Last year, the EPL club played at FC Cincinnati, and the match drew 35,000, believed to be the largest crowd ever to witness a soccer match in Ohio."

Interesting, hopefully we can get another Trickett-Smith type move from an England club or two.

Is there a chance that the SF Deltas play the Sac Republic? Strange that the investors of that club would play in the NASL, when playing in the USL would provide closer opposition

Perhaps US Open Cup if we win our first game.
