The fact that Sauerbrunn is not on the list is a huge mistake. And I think Simon should have gotten a spot as well.
Simon definitely should be taking the spot that Bachmann is occupying. Also, the fact that I see all these Japanese players and Iwabuchi is missing.
Do they usually wait until the technical report to release it, or do they release it a day or two after the final? I don't remember them waiting like this before, but maybe I've forgotten. I hope this isn't Blatter's idea of what is meant by making changes at FIFA.
on the list 1st place, USA.......... 5 players 2nd, Japan................4 3rd, England............3 4th, Germany..........3 quarter finals Australia..................2 Canada.....................1 France.....................4 China.......................0 16th round Switzerland............1 too many French players on the list and China got screwed. Not only did they have the hardest opponent of any of the quarter final losers, but lost by an respectable score of only 0-1
This is MUCH BETTER than the joke that was the Dream Team popularity contest. You can never have enough French, i actually would have fancied another French defender in there But i also agree Sauerbrunn should've been included. I like Japan but Ariyoshi is an overrated pick. McLeod and Wang Fei could've been better picks for GK. I'm fine with the English defense but not sure about Bardsley. Not saying Delie deserves to be on this list but i just find it funny FIFA never really considered her what with their favoritism towards goal-scoring players. I think she and Le Sommer almost have the same number of goals.
we all know that Sauerbrunn is the best defensive cb in the world, but this is once again Euro snobbery(if it's mostly Europeans that voted for this). In their book, a central back should also become an attacking player(or like in the case of Renard or Johnston, score off headers from corner kicks). Unfair to Brunn, but let them keep thinking like that(if they don't put any value to actual defending)

Bardsley.....and I agree with everybody who said McLeod and Sauerbrunn should have been there but also Laura Georges.
Morgan had good games against Colombia & Germany, but she only scored 1 goal in the whole tournament. She excels on the open field, and it's not her fault when most of the opponents 'bunker' against the US, leaving her with little space to work with. I was more surprised that Christen Press got zero playing time in the semi & finals, and just spare change as a sub in the other two playoff games
She was a major reason that the other teams bunker against the US. Yeah Press definitely should have got more time, she has the pace and execution.
I don't know if we were watching the same WWC. Only one or maybe two of the teams we played used any sort of bunkering tactic against the US, and again, Morgan only scored one goal all tournament long while Sasic got the Golden Ball. Moreover, Morgan looked somewhat hampered in her play, making some question if she was ready to play after her string of injuries. That speculation was confirmed when shortly after the tournament, she had another (minor) knee surgery. Her finishing also showed some rustiness. Morgan is a great player, but she did not have a great tournament. Frankly, you can make any argument you want, but when it comes down to it, one goal for an out-and-out striker is not enough to get a spot on an All-Star Team.
Morgan only scored once, but she created 2PKs and 1 red card. She was a major threat in the semi, just lack the finishing. Sure she wasn't on her top form, but she was still a key player and did a fine job I will say.
Again, you can make any argument you want, but still "lack of finishing" and "not being in top form" are certainly not good enough for an All-Star Team. Plus, can you fault them for not wanting to name another US player to the team when the US already has 5? (and if a 6th would be added, it definitely should be Sauerbrunn)
