And the year before that they were 4-1-1. So to be clear in the last 3 years the SEC is 17-2-1 in the 1st round. Hate people who throw crap against the wall. We will disagree, and the SEC does look down this year, but don't come on here, say something without factual support, when it is EASILY verifiable.
Much better -- well, at least safer -- to say something without factual support when the truth ISN'T EASILY verifiable. Fortunately, that never happens here on BigSoccer. Oops, I think I just violated your rule!
Texas A&M looks MUCH better than pretty much everyone expected them to. They made a huge step towards another conference championship by defeating Florida last night. It's certainly a long way from the end of the season but A&M has established itself as the team to beat in the SEC again, even in a massive rebuilding year. Their biggest weakness right now is depth. Even a single injury to a starter would be bad, injuries to two starters could crash this team.
I watched the game on the SEC Network. I was impressed by A&M, but was shocked at how bad Florida looked defensively.
And they have given up 14 goals already. Maybe Mississippi State won't be the worst in the SEC for once.
Mississippi State wins their first conference game in forever. Has to leave a bad taste in the mouths of Arkansas.
Vanderbilt gets the road tie at #20 Kentucky Nice road win for Ole Miss at Arkansas Nice home win for LSU v. Missouri
Georgia lost...again (this time at Mizzou 2-0) Impressive home wins Auburn 2-0 Texas A&M Vandy 1-0 Arkansas Miss St 3-0 Kentucky Ole Miss 2-0 USC The only road winner was Tennessee at Alabama (3-1) http://www.secsports.com/standings/soccer
Sec has been beating each other up this season. Must mean the league is down and everyone sucks? when that happens in the acc it just means every team is awesome :eye roll: but I digress. I've actually been impressed with almost every team in the league this year, at some point. There may not be that dominant team but I think the league is really solid top to bottom and it's been an exciting race to this point. And it should continue until the end. I think anywhere from 6-9 teams will get in the NCAA tournament and I think those that get in have a chance to do some damage.
Another good win for Matt Mott. Ole Miss beat #10 Auburn 2-0 (in Oxford). Ole Miss is 5-3-0 in the SEC (11-3-2 overall). They have also won 6 of the last 7 played
The SEC really does have some good coaches who were able to take a struggling program and make them good. Mott is one of those. There are several others.
Two tough road games for Ole Miss (at Tennessee tonight, at A&M Sunday). Schedule maker gets thumbs down
Mizzou 2-1 Alabama Ole Miss 2-0 Tennessee Georgia 3-1 Vandy Arkansas 0-1 Texas A&M Kentucky 1-2 Auburn Miss St 0-1 LSU
We should focus on those that did well, but did anybody see Arkansas and Alabama competing for last place?
Georgia is playing much better and has moved into the middle of the pack with a couple of wins (tied with Kentucky, two points behind LSU)
It's been a wild season. Not one dominant team and almost any team can beat another on a given night. Thursday should be fun.
UGA, Kentucky and Tennessee all tied for 9th UGA (#9) plays Vandy...winner gets Florida UK(#10) plays LSU...winner gets Mizzou Tennessee (#11) gets left out Miss St (#12) finished 1pt behind http://www.secsports.com/bracket/soccer
Tennessee was not even close to a good team this year--and as a UT fan, I can say that. The Vols have a lot of young talent, and so should be lots better next year if Pensky makes good decisions about his personnel, which I'm not sure he did this year. The SEC is a very solid conference. It's not as good at the top this year as it was last year--but florida is very good and there are several solid teams--not great, but solid. Because it is the SEC, it is hyper-competitive, and I've been impressed by the coaching--there are several good coaches in the league, some of whom have been at their schools for quite a long time.
