Was not taken that way. All is good. No one is more of a Union supporter than I am. Honestly though, I am an MLS fan too. I watch almost every game. If I were to ever move from this area, I would have season tickets to whatever team was the local team. I'd still support the U, but I'm sure I'd follow that team above the others. That's all I'm trying to say. You can LOVE one team and attend games of other teams.
I already have six children, sorry @Dills. You will have to settle for the occassional free beer. This is true, but Zach is 100% Union and SOB... he is just attending those games while at school. Once again... I AM THE POOLBOY! I can not be fired (just like Nick) See above post... however it is zero times a week, pool is closed!
We play our 11th game on the same day Montreal will play their 5th. So it will take awhile to know if we are the worst team in the conference or not.
Truth of the matter is, if we took a team of Union castoffs and played them against the current lineup, it would be scary what the result would look like. We have discarded so many serviceable players in the last few years that it borders on being ridiculous. I get so frustrated watching other teams play their young players with success, while ours just rot on a bench and/or are let go. Almost every other team has young players contributing: Akindele, Larin, Shelton, Birnbaum, Grella.... the list goes on and on. We have more first round picks playing for Orlando than we have playing for the U! Meanwhile, the guy we traded up to get at #1, two seasons ago, has seen 1 game. edit: An additional thought... we kept Fabinho instead of Ribeiro. How good would Ribeiro (starting many games for OCSC) look in place of Casey at this point?
I understand your frustration, but I'm not sure that the data is there to back up your argument. We're playing Ayuk (18 yo and on his country's U-23 team), Pfeffer (20 yo and part of U-20 team) and McCarthy (22 yo). I think you could make a similar list of castaways for almost any team. And Ribeiro is not going to play again until mid-summer. Although I would have kept him over Fabinho, he really isn't that good. All things equal, I still would prefer Casey over Ribeiro
The real crime is not losing Ribeiro, it's letting Okugo go while we end up paying more money to another DM in the summer window. Maybe our dream of Okugo on the NT will finally happen, though.
Overpay or pay him his value? Did we ever determine if his demands were outrageous or were the U low balling him? I definitely got the sense that he was frustrated w/the team. I think there's something the FO did or did not do/follow through with that has caused beef w/some players. Maybe something as simple as Sak being a douche.
