Looks like we should be able to make the Kansas City away game. I was a little worried we wouldn't be able to make it to any this year with KC going to the West.
Something else awesome I just realized about this schedule -- the are 5 regular season away games that are 2 hours or less drive away from PPL. 2 at RBNY, 2 at DCU, 1 at NYCFC.
Now that I got my season tickets, I took the time to sit down last night and map out my season. Looks like I'll be attending (if my leave requests at work are approved): 3/20 FC Dallas 4/11 NYCFC 4/19 New England 5/2 Toronto FC 5/17 DC United 6/3 Columbus 6/24 Seattle 6/27 Montreal 7/11 Portland 8/1 NYRB 8/29 New England 9/12 Columbus 9/20 Houston 10/25 Orlando City as well as at least 1 of the away games, shooting for 7/26 @ DC A little bummed though I won't make the home/season opener. But my sister will be there in my place lol Also, possibility I'll be bringing a Leicester City and a Liverpool fan visting from merry ol' England on 3/20 for the Philly soccer experience. At least if the Union disappoint it'll be something the LC fan can relate to lol
I am actually fortunate enough to be planning on traveling to 7 away games this season. I'll be getting to all of the NY and DC games, as well as NE and Orlando. That's going to allow me to see 24 of the 34 regular season games this year. Love this schedule!
7 road games is impressive, just a shame you will miss out on those 'loyalty' points the true fans will get watching those games on TV. Assuming the whole system is not the snafu it was last year.
I'd love to be able to hit all the NY and DC games, but I have to pick and choose with taking days off from work this year.
We had a blast in Seattle last year, will probably travel to Vancouver this year a spend a few days in PNW. Whitecaps better have extra security for us like they did in Seattle.
I should be able to make the drive down to Orlando for the 8/8 Union match. Happy MLS finally has a team in Florida. Exciting stuff!
My son is a student at UCF. He has season tickets for OCSC that we got him for Christmas. He is a huge Union fan and SOB, but now counts the Lions as his second favorite team. Anyway, I will be flying down for that game, so I too will be there!
Honestly I've met tons of Union fans who are annual/semi-annual visitors to the Kingdom of Mouse. I have a feeling OCSC will be a very popular "second team" in Philly.
I'll never understand the concept of a "second team" when they're in direct competition with eachother.
For me, any second team that I root for isn't anything like rooting for my top team. I don't buy any second team merch, nor would I ever root for them at the expense of my own team. Any second team I root for is strictly framed in the sense of "If it isn't going to be us, than I don't really mind if it's them."
Let me explain... Kid lives in FL, goes to school in FL, loves soccer, grew up with the Union. He has season tix here but can only go to games from May to late July. So I bought him season tix to OCSC. This way he gets to go to games while he is at school. He loves the Union and watches the Lions.
It wasn't a shot at him. Apologies if it came off like that. It's just a strange thing to me. In general. Not his situation.
