Well the field is set... North America: Canada Mexico USA Central America El Salvador Guatemala Honduras Panama Caribbean: Jamaica (Hosts) Aruba Cuba Haiti Trinidad and Tobago
Aruba scored a game winning goal 2 minutes into stoppage time to qualify. A draw would have put the Dominican Republic in
More about the draw http://www.concacaf.com/article/u-20-championship-draw-thursday-in-montego-bay Mexico and USA can be in the same group !
CONCACAF says they get 4 teams in the U-20 World Cup, so even if USA and Mexico are in the same group they can both qualify. What games will be played after the Group Stage? The last time USA and Mexico were grouped together in World Cup qualifying before the final round was in 1980 in qualifying for World Cup 1982.
Looks like we got the easier group than Mexico. Anything can happen in these youth tournaments though, so we'll see what happens.
but unlike the US, Mexico doesn't have anything to prove in the youth level so that result is far less concerning
Is nothing bad, but I got a point vs usssawker, he was blaming that this U-20 Us team was supposed to surpass far away our u-20 generation..... It seems he was bad... as always
...and from the regulations: http://www.concacaf.com/category/under-20s-men/regulations english: http://issuu.com/concacaf2013/docs/cu20c2015_regulations-eng french: http://issuu.com/concacaf2013/docs/cu20c2015_regulations-fre The four playoff teams will be seeded #1 to #4 (or overall #3 to #6) and will be (#1 -v- #4) and (#2 -v- #3). In theory, it is possible that each matchup can have teams from the same group. P.S. Good that the group winners get a bid to the FIFA U-20 WC, instead of having to play a must-win match.
Competition kicked off yesterday with Panama trashing Aruba 4-0. Other two games, USA - Guatemala and Jamaica - Trinidad and Tobago ended in a draw. In group B Mexico is dismantling Cuba, 6-1 after 45 minutes.
