They won't. Dream on. I disagree, it was a clear destruction in the 2nd half. It was like a Tyson fight where the opponent was equal to him on the judges' scorecards for the first 9 rounds. Then in the 10th, BAM!, Tyson KOs him with ruthless aggression. Another example would be the 1993 Super Bowl where the Bills were hanging with Dallas until BAM!, the Cowboys destroyed them in the 2nd half. America went ham on Impact with quickness and ferocity, they did indeed destroy them. Alexis was right.
Yeah, if getting 4 goals scored on you in one half isn't considered destruction...you might be Brazil.
Except over the course of 180 minutes the final score was 5 - 3. This is not a score line of domination. CA dominated 25 to maybe 40 minutes out 190. This series was closer then you guys want to believe. This is a good example of a team destroying another team. The final score was 7 - 1. This is domination, 5 - 3 not so much.
Alright, so for the last game day.... Group A is fairly open; Saprissa only needs a draw, but they're also away, so hard to tell Group B is fairly closed; UANL is the one that only needs a draw, but they get the luxury of being able to do it at home Group C is decided (Queretaro, 7pts) with all four of their games done already Group D is decided (LAGalaxy, 7pts) though LAG can improve their seeding with a draw or win over Comunicaciones Group E is all but decided; Motagua needs to win over America by five or more to go through (any win by 4 would put America through on one of the away goals tiebreaks) Group F is decided (Seattle, 7pts) with all four of their games done already Group G is fairly closed; like UANL, RSL only needs to avoid a home loss, though they will be in their playoff push Group H is decided (DCUnited, 10pts) with all four of their games done already
In the meanwhile, here's how the bracket would look... DC United (USA) vs. Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) Querétaro FC (MEX) vs. Seattle Sounders (USA) --- Club América (MEX) vs. Real Salt Lake (USA) LA Galaxy (USA) vs. Tigres UANL (MEX)
Max/min seeding possibilities. America can claim the top seed with a win, if not then it will come down to who can get to 10 points with the best GD between then, DC, LA, RSL, or UANL. Saprissa (6pt, +4) W: Seeded 2-6, D: Seeded 4-7 L: Eliminated Santos (6pt, +4) W: Seeded 2-6 D/L: Eliminated UANL (7pt, +2) W: Seeded 1-6 D: Seeded 3-6 L: Eliminated Herediano (4pt, +1) W: Seeded 3-8 D/L: Eliminated Queretaro (7pt, +9) Seeded 3-7 LA (7pt, +9) W: Seeded 1-4 D: Seeded 3-6 L: Seeded 4-8 America (9pt, +7) W: Seeded 1 D: Seeded 1-5 L: Seeded 2-6 Seattle (7pt, +3) Seeded 5-8 RSL (7pt, +2) W: Seeded 1-5 D: Seeded 3-6 L: Eliminated Municipal (4pt, +0) W: Seeded 3-8 D/L: Eliminated DC (10pt, +6) Seeded 1-5
http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...ounders-fc-vs-vancouver-whitecaps-fc/boxscore says 37,624. That's their lowest attendance of the year and 70.8% of their attendance hosting Vancouver in MLS on August 1.
I am convinced in MLS team winning the title this season. This is their best season ever with 100% teams going through the group stage (for the first time ever; 100% considering two were in the same group - which sucks, btw). My pick is either Seattle or DCU. LAG and Arena will find a way to screw it up while RSL don't stand a chance as I think we'll see huge "reconstruction" of their team. I hope Seattle enters Championship stage as MLS champion.
I think Tigres will finally gel together and destroy all the other teams. They are by far the best team on paper yet have not played well.
..and yet IIRC that's their best CCL attendance ever (including knockout-round games!). Even more surprising is that they managed such a crowd in spite of traffic issues around Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping's visit. DC? If they make the final, I predict Espíndola misses a crucial chance that allows their opponent to eventually take the series.
Thats good enough for 8th place in the the all time CCL attendance! So how many for their CCL home game vs Olimpia?
You guys are making the rookie mistake of underestimating the MIGHT of mexican football!! And don´t forget who their coach is!
wow, now I see Queretano team many South American players in first 11, especially brazilians and argentinians
Wikipedia was wrong about their lowest attendance and I edited it. Seattle got 37,106 hosting Olimpia, which is less than they got hosting Vancouver.
The seating capacity for soccer at Vancouver's stadium is somewhere in the 20ks; América fans don't really show up for CCL group stage games; and Tigres fans, who normally fill their stadium for anything, seemed to have a bit of international fatigue after the Copa Libertadores final and didn't fill the rafters for the Isidro Metapán match. So I'm pretty sure Seattle will have the best attendance for the time being.
los de seattle se paresen como los Tigres, "nos ganaron pero Goleamos en la tribuna" lol all jokeing asaide seattle and tigres are top teams when it comes to unconditional support in the ccl
