Queretano will be unseed and will meet Tigres, America, Laguna/Saprissa or DC/LAG/RSL. With second leg away, I see Queretano out by every team of these, especially Tigres, America, Laguna or LAG
Tigres isn't a lock either. Their odds are really good, but they needed 2 late goals to avoid a loss to Metapan at home. If they get upset in El Salvador tonight, it's very much game on in that group. They'd have to win their last game
Opps, missed that part... but he also used the words "MX clubs will destroy MLS (in the quarters)" ... this surely was not the case last year!
"will destroy" .. I mean that Tigres & America will qualify, with some chances for Laguna. I don't know Queretano and not trust them after results in groups stage and Liga MX ... I know LAG is the best in MLS, but other teams made last performances (if can say performance a participation in quarterfinals) I really wait and expect 4 matches between MLS and MX with 50-50 chances, to see which is the winner of CCL This can be a first edition of a league with only MX and MLS clubs ... a new SuperLiga 4 teams for Mexico, 4 for USA ... chances 50-50 , let's see which is the best I tink Mexico ... with 3 qualifiers in semifinals and 1 for MLS I go too far, need to wait for last round in groups
It would be nice if MLS didn't have to face each other in the group.... maybe there could be 5 MLS teams in the quarters. MLS did knock the Ticos out last year in the semis.
Again, even in the final last year, America did not destroy Montreal. CA won the series in the last 23 minutes of 180 minutes of soccer. Montreal were actually wining or tied until the 67th minute.
4-2 Montreal were winning until the 50th minute when CA tied it up 1 -1. CA went up 2-1 in the 65' min and then 3-1 in the 67 min. It was a tight game until the last 30 minutes of soccer... they did not get destroyed.
It was over at 3 - 1. Montreal were chasing the game at this point. BUT Montreal were wining for 50 minutes of the game. Typically when I use the word "destroy", it implies that the other team never had a chance, and they were dominated the entire match. Montreal held there own until late in the second half.
Yes they did... but Montreal still won the the series and advanced. The point is Montreal did not get destroyed.
ahaha, a match have 90 minutes. A double have 180 minutes !! A big team know to play...don't lose their chances and don't run 180 minutes for a goal. Montreal as a middle team played well, but don't know to take their chance !! America is the best CONCACAF club ever and will remain much time so. They need only 5 minutes from 180 to take advantage, and this happened against Montreal. Montreal is a middle team, young in continental competition, play without "head", play with heart, run very much, have chances to score, but in finally the old team, the "teacher" score in 1 or 2 chances and obtain the qualification
They advanced, true. They were also beaten and without a doubt, a much weaker team than club america.
Another factor aiding the good chance of all Mexican-MLS QFs is that CRC only has 2 teams this time around. Even while underperfoming a bit, we are the biggest threat to MLS-LMX teams. As much as I hate them, Alajuelense have a quality side, that would really put up a fight in any group. Waaaaay more dangerous than Verdes. CRC really should have 3 permanent spots.
This is all true... but this does not paint a picture of one team destroying another. CA was obviously the better team and they are more experienced, but they did not destroy Montreal.
yah, maybe I choise a wrong word due of my issues in language I can't find other word , better than "destroy" ... crash , humiliate is too much. In short words .... Montreal played with heart, America played with head !!
And I definitely wouldn't put it past RSL to lose to Municipal if they're still in shouting distance of the playoffs by October. It's the middle of three games in nine days to close out the regular season.
