2014 World Cup : 40 teams ?

Looking at that list surely UEFA can just get 15 - everybody else will be sending muppets, why not some Euro muppets? I'm assuming no confed play-offs (cannot say I will miss them - apart from the excitement of going to one).

Mind you, the way things have looked of late, in practical terms it seems like pretty much the same as your suggestion.

It makes me cringe the way this has been tied up with the FIFA reforms.
Presumably if we look at the list we can tell who bribed the reform committee?

 

CONMEBOL would get screwed if they go with this list. I mean, it already has essentially 5 teams anyway because they will always mow the pitch with whichever AFC or OFC team they play in the playoffs.

I like how they say the remaining spot will be based on "sporting merits". Yes, because the first extra 7 spots sure have nothing to do with sporting merits, that much is apparent! Though I can't say I'm surprised.
