Whomever is in Japan's group will have to play the fixtures of the no.1 seed. Because Japan is playing the fixtures of the no.5 team (so they can play Confed Cup).

So in reality the no.3 side of Japan's group will have the fixtures that you talk about, and the no.2 side (Iran or S.Korea) will be getting the bye in round 1.

Osieck still says that Saudis will face a full-strength Australian team.

Well to be fair, that is how it should be. It's just that FIFA did not grant Iran the same right in 2009, when the result of SK-Iran became known to the Saudis prior to their kick-off with North Korea. It was an outrageous decision by FIFA that still to this day I dont know what the hell were going through their minds.

The dumb thing is that they've only made this decision now. The FFA have been selling tickets to this game based on a 7:30 local time kick off, and with some tickets $150 a pop, and a lot of kids planning to go, I'm not sure how happy they are to be starting the game at their bed time and playing till almost midnight.

That was my first thoughts, of course in most Asian countries kickoff times for games can be changed on a whim, even the night before so to be given this kind of notice is unreal.

But FIFA set themselves up here, why only do it for the last game in one region?

Surely all games from start to finish should be like this in the future? Back to playing in host nations?

But what FIFA do show is the lack of understanding from country to country, culture to culture. Kids are in bed in Oz, or at least should be going to bed, not the case in some other Asian countries.

Playing at the same time is fine as long as they stick to it for the whole process, but sometimes you just have to stick to the luck of the draw, the draw happened, the fixtures came out and the home side generally gets the choice of venue and time. I remember Barcelona playing a La Liga game at 00:05am as the home team decided kickoff times. Spanish FA and UEFA/FIFA didn't do anything then, so why they determing the time now.

I do agree that we screwed in 2009....BUT at the same time, we should NEVER have to rely on the final game to simply qualify for the World Cup. We need to be able to qualify where the last game is meaningless. For example in 2009, we were the only team in the group NOT to beat UAE both times. Also our loss against Saudi Arabia in Tehran with the LEAD in the final minutes also really screwed us over.

Honestly, this has taken far too long. The qualifying round should be over and done with by now. All the delay's doing is simply extending more time for Kuwaiti "experts" to come on television every given day and pledge their support to the team. Real analysts no longer exist around here.

Korea 4-0 Kuwait, and that's the only prediction I care about. Hopefully it puts an end to our miserable campaign, Sheikh Talal "I'll get you the Asian Cup" Al-Fahad resigns, and the Kuwaiti football forum members stop daydreaming about their team's chances.

The only way we're winning this one is if Kuwait does what it used to do in the handball federation championships: cheat.

Bahrain will probably win but it wont be enough, I reckon.
Qatar don't have a manager until now and they're 90% through. But if they don't take this seriously, who knows what might happen.

What are the odds that the arrogant Qataris lose embarrassingly in Tehran, added to the fact they're without a coach, and Bahrain end up beating Indonesia by a heavy margin? :p

I'd like to see it happen. I don't hate Qatar; I actually love the country. But it'll be so cruel and funny if this happens and I'd like to see the faces of all Qatari pundits on Al-Majlis. :p
