No problemo, i was waiting for some others to make threads but no one did.

Maybe the mods can merge this one with yours.

This game is all about Ozil and Gotze. Algeria is most exposed at the wings and those players are dangerous when moving in from there (even though they aren't wingers). There may be as many as 3 CBs marking Mueller. Unless Klose starts and takes pressure off Mueller, I don't see anyone securing any golden boot in this round. Mueller is not technical enough to give Algeria fits. I'd actually rather start Podolski or Schurrle seeing the LB Algeria will be using.

On paper, one of the more one sided matches, let's see how it'll play out.

For both sides. Algeria will be motivated due to Gijon 1982, while Germany has to break Algerias streak (ok, wins were from 1962 and 1982). I expect an interesting and close match, but hope that FIFA does something against the laserpointers: I don't see people as human being who shot others persons in the face with it. No respect for people who kick sportsmanship.

I hope the same. But Neuer can deal with it. At the Club World Cup in Marocco he had the same problem so I hope it won't influence him too much. Anyway laserpointers should be banned.

Germany should win this game with 2 or 3 goals. Algeria had some nice performances so far but Germany will be to strong. Anything else would be a sensation.

I'd really like Algeria to pull a good performance and avenge the disqualification from 1982 and all. However, as hard as they are playing and will play, I think Germany is just too good. This will be the most lopsided match of the second round.

If this is what its like when they advance from the group stage, i cant imagine what its going to be like if they got their revenge and advanced...

IMHO I think it will be close. 2-1 for Germany.

Algeria play a nice attacking style. They appear to be fast which will trouble the German CBs. If Hoewedes is still at LB I think that is where Algeria should focus. Johnson made him look weak and Algeria could do the same.

The pressure will be on Germany so the longer it stays 0-0 the more pressure Germany will feel. This could be an upset in the making if Germany come in over-confident.

Agreed. If Germany can get on the board first, I think it may turn into a blowout (4-0).

First goal will be critical. If Algeria scores it could be a hell of a game.

It's true, but believe me - it happens. I was born decades after Brazil lost the World Cup to Uruguay, and yet I can't wait for a chance of slaughtering them in the quarter-finals this year.

I think it may be a bit different, no? You probably live this every time you play a Copa America or qualification match or it may even be mentioned whenever the Maracana is mentioned. In other words, it has become a cult topic in football.

With Germany, they just played a relaxing match vs Austria and as unsportsmanlike as it was, it wasn't really taking anything from Algeria, was it? I mean, it's not like qualification to the next round was guaranteed anyway.

Glad to be moving up to this thread :)
Seeing as you guys "closed" the last match day one....lol
Hopefully that haters and trolls will find something else to write about.

Germany wins and moves on. No problems.....

Actually, Austria had 4pts as did Algeria. All Austria had to do was play for a draw. The loss -- at 1-0 -- assured Germany and Austria would go through at the expense of Algeria. Germany most definately needed the win...and got it depite the leisurely style of play.

2-0. Cooler conditions should help to see some up-tempo soccer. But it surely is not going be as easy as it seems.

Please dear the Gods of Soccer. Let it be.

Of course Germany is the most pampered team so far. Little traveling, nice weather where they are.
