That wins my most boring game of the year so far.. ugh... Well played to the Chinese though, well disciplined zonal marking throughout the whole game. We for whatever reason looked totally flat, with only one real chance... can't believe Lee JB missed that sitter... So we go into the final match with Japan... If we win we will obviously go through, and even if we tie we will go through thanks to the huge goal difference (but likely at a cost of the first seed if China wins)... but if we lose we're gonna go out unless Vietnam beats China (which I don't see happening). Not happy about this, IMO the coach should have gone for the full 3 points with more urgency in this match to make the Japan game less risky...
I wouldn't necessarily say hwang sun hong criticized him in a bad way. I think hwangsae was more being honest/keeping hui chan humble and letting him know he still has a long ways to go to be effective player in the kleague, which is true. Also don't think hwang sun hong would have been as harsh had hui chan been another youth club's prospect, and in a way, purposefully made those comments to let him know he will need to work hard at pohang. It wasn't all criticism either, he praised him as well. Hwang sung hong, in an interview, once talked about how he was against korean prospects going to the jleague and other foreign leagues at a young age because foreign clubs don't scold and work those players harshly enough, and have less invested in them fulfilling their potential than do kleague clubs. Also said young players NEED some criticism to keep properly motivated. tbh I'd much rather have a manager like this who will push young prospects to their best instead of blowing smoke up their asses like you see a lot of other managers doing nowadays.
Such a frustrating game it was. The midfield really needs to be changed for the next match, hopefully 황희찬 심제혁/김영규 ... 백승호 ... 서명원 황기욱 ... 김승주/김형욱
it will be interesting to see what happens. Of course we will go into the match with confidence that we can beat Japan since we own them at youth levels. but i dont think it was wise to sit out so many of the players from the first match. but we shall see if it pays off when we revert back to a similar team in the first match. last time at the U-16s they won the first two matches convincingly and used subs last match. then in the knockout vs Uzbekistan they came our flat and barely nicked a draw. hopefully that doesnt happen again.
Australia just scraps passed Indonesia. They outplayed us for significant portions of the game... On occasions we did have openings going forward only to go square or backwards. It took a lovely through ball by Daniel De Silva to unlock the Indonesian defence for Jaushua Sotirio to score. Was shocking to see the boys time wasting at the end. Paul Okon (manager) can GTFO. Also, the only positive is Daniel De Silva out of these useless individual twats.
any chance Seon Myun-Won is played as #10 against JNT U-19? Paik Seung-Ho should be one of double-six. would love to see this attacking line-up ----------------Kim Gun-Hee------------- LW?---------------SMW---------------Kiu -------------PSH---------------DM?---------
Gonna have to wake up at 5am EST for this one... really hope that the boys won't disappoint like the last game... Knowing Kim Sang Ho I'm thinking he's gonna go overly cautious though...
i doubt it.. him and HHC seem to drift out into the wings and prefer cutting in from the outside. and he seems to have been exclusively playing out wide in this tournament at least. i think this squad could use PSH in a more advanced role since they lack creativity centrally.
At least its live on KBSN
Only one change made, talk about a very 소심 person haha Kim Gun Hee Kim Young Kyu ... Seol Tae Su ... Seo Myung Won Kim Hyeong Uk ... Kim Seung Ju Park Min Gyu ... Lim Seung Gyeom ... Kim Chang Yeon ... Park Jae Woo Lee Tae Hee Seol Tae-su better play better this time around...
Ugh, ugly half. Totally let them in free for their goal, and in general being outplayed in midfield... but thank god for set pieces. The two sidebacks are terrible in defending and are being constantly exposed when going forward... with not much cover most of the time on the break. Can't really seem to create anything offensively except for individual efforts either. The teamwork is not showing much progress at all and it is concerning (although it did get slightly better after our goal). Interestingly enough Vietnam is ahead of China right now 1-0, which means that we can even go through with a loss if that holds... but it is not obviously something to depend on. Hoping for a better showing in the 2nd half.
