Sounds like there may be a big shuffle of players throughout the teams this coming year...If CT is on I wouldn't be surprised if Terry Foley tries to get a few players from Philly.
Dunno about that.... At least WNY and BOS have kept large portions of their rosters already. =-/ Maybe PHI is looking to get mJ players? (If so, I hope they don't go for Boxx) That, I could see.
Welcome Lori.... http://www.phillysoccernews.com/teams/independence2.php?article_id=7940 I am guessing Lori Lindsay may be gone...
Wait, I'm confused.... How can they have signed Vero with her two-year deal in Russia? [/reason] MIYAMA!!! Okay, you (potentially) have two of the best Athletica players AND have resigned the '11 MVP - damn, Philly be STACKED!
While potentially fab to have Miyama, she's going to have Olympic duties and miss significant time. But yes, Philly seems to be making good signings...
Frida article http://www.phillysoccernews.com/teams/independence2.php?article_id=7952 So far Chulupny Boquette Frida Kai (Pretty much confirmed) (If the NT is in the WPS this year, they will resign) A-Rod Lindsay Barnhart
Boston seemed to do pretty well w/ Sameshima(sp?) last year, and she wasn't signed a couple months into the season.
I'm not sure that's the best example given they didn't progress in the playoffs... But looking at previous public statements by Riley about players that missed time due to WWC training and WWC games, I personally am tempering Miyama to Philly excitement.
best for beat because they needed her. best for val because she needed her own team. now, beat can go after 2 forwards. personally, i'd take sydney and bring in casey. that's a crazy 3 coming forward against any defense.
casey is a head case. you'd get 3 or 4 great games out of her and the rest she'd just frustrate you to tears.
Just responding to this on the Philly boards so as to not upset those who want to discuss WPS FA. Newsouth, you are all over the place here. First off, Winters is not an outside back but rather a midfielder so why bring up the comparison? Ali Riley and Alex Scott are also tremendous with runs up the field and Estelle offers nothing there so that's where your comparison ends. And you admit her passing is terrible. I agree she's good defender with good recovery speed and she has a place in the league. I just would like to see a more well rounded player starting at that position— someone who can play defense and also make the occasional run up field.
I agree with Philafan here; we are deep at every position except right and left backs and Johnson's passing is atrocious. If the team has extra money to spend I won't mind them upgrading or getting true outside backs.
