http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/caicara-tipped-impress-schalke Bad news for Uchida I guess. Will be interesting to see if he manages to keep Caicara out of the starting lineup.

He returned to training with the team in mid January but the pain is sometimes too much for him. It changes from day to day. Must be really hard for him but it's nice that his club helps him out a lot.
I really really hope this isn't a career ending injury, but by the day, it looks more and more like it. Even if not, likely won't be the same player again. Really shameful cuz he was well on way to become wc RB
Kickers say no. He's back from Japan but still recovering for "weeks" and definitely will miss the start of the season according to them. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...da-ist-zurueck-und-faellt-noch-lange-aus.html
I doubt he'll reach that level again or that he will be useful for Japanese NT in the future. Not that he will be bad but he had the worst kind of injury when his best years should come. Still kudos to Schalke for letting him recover on their paycheck. But it's his limit I'm afraid.
He's picked up another injury and is back in Japan for recovery. Doesn't look good, but Schalke are not going to give up on him so easily. He's one of their most popular players, even among the German fans.
They could have terminated it long time ago. That's great how much attention he's receiving there. A sad story but it's not his fault that he was born with this body which can't keep up with his head in 100%.
Usually they go for contract cancellation on mutual agreement. Schalke is big enough to pay him all those money but instead they're helping him to recover.
Sure, but there would be zero reason for Uchida to take a haircut on his remaining salary balance. It's not like S04 is doing him some kind of favor by "helping" him recover.
Actually, he probably has already taken a cut. All clubs usually are protected in regards to long injuries so that they do not pay guys the full wage when they have long injuries. In Italy, after 6 months the club pays 50%. In Buli from what I remember it is much worse: after 42 days of injury the clubs are not obliged to pay until the player is back. So players usually have tons of insurances. Career-ending injuries are also always a motivation for termination.
