    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Round of 32 was played. Dam...I was hoping alot of upsets but all the K-league teams are through and the only major casualty was Gyeongnam, losing to Busan Transportation Corporation FC (if that is what you call 부산교통공사).

Kim Yong Dae returned for the first time after breaking his nose from a clash with Shin Young Rok several weeks ago.

Don't really know much about K2 and K3 leagues, but I'm guessing these "University" clubs are third-tiers?

Nah~ i dont know much about these K2, K3 or the university sides. But this is a FA Cup that is no different to any other FA Cups' in the world. All the teams that are enlisted by the Korean Football Association can play.
As for University teams, I think the name states for itself pretty much - a team of footballers who go to that uni.
I'm pretty sure during that time you go into K-league draft system, and if you are the talented or the lucky bunch, you get scouted into K-league.

Oh, I'm familiar with FA Cup qualifications, but I never knew University teams can be registered with the KFA or any country's FA for that matter... or is it just in Korea?

They wouldn't be considered pro "football clubs" though, right? I'm going to assume that none of the trade/transfer/contract-signing/extension/etc. associated with standard leagues applies at the university club level... although they do have drafts, which is unique compared to Europe.

I find this very interesting, personally. ;D

I wouldn't necessary see them as "pro football clubs" but they do have some talented player. I mean, nearly all our past Korean (and some present) stars have come from their university sides.
They have their own U-league as well and a University League Football Association.

There was a a time when (Cho Kwang Rae was at Anyang) Cho Kwang Rae advised several kids to drop-out of middle school so that they can solely focus on their footballing careers. He told that to Lee Chung Yong, Ko Yo Han, Ko Myung Jin and several others. While some, like Lee CY, have worked out fantastically, there are others who have failed and are playing in these amateur leagues like K2 or K3.

Korea as a society is too education-focused. Without these university teams (studying and playing semi-pro football) there would be some reduction in Korean footballers I'd imagine, unless of course you are one of those special ones like Lee CY.

If we're talking strictly athletes, I don't know if that's the way it is, but that's the way it should be given how easily most student athletes in Korea become irrelevant to society once they fail to make it professionally.

Haha Seol Ki Hyeon plays fun and games with Suwon's defence. He beat Oh Beom Suk and chipped a goal over Jung Sung Ryong.
Reminded me of his good old days! 1-0 Ulsan.

EDIT: there is complaints by Suwon that Kwak Tae Hee hand-balled the ball before assisting Seol Ki Hyeon with a long ball.

EDIT: woah(!) the linesman...or the lineswoman is a...well...a woman. Pretty cool.

Hull~ Seol Ki Hyeon looks like his younger days (!)
He just scored his second goal but injured himself by doing so.

EDIT: Stevo just hit back. Suwon 1-2 Ulsan. Last few minutes should be interesting!

    EDIT: Tomato equalizes for Suwon!

FT: Seongnam 3-0 Pohang (Sasa, Cho Dong Gun, Radoncic)
Suwon and Ulsan go to extra time. Ulsan had a man sent off (Ko Seul Ki) and Seol Ki Hyeon is injured.

Went to that Suwon match... Great match!! Seol did look like his younger days (until he pulled up after his second goal haha).

I really like Suwon WC Stadium. My favorite venue so far out of the several I've been to in the K-League.

Can't wait for this match, if Seongnam does their thing on Saturday, they should be able to get back to the AFC CL despite their poor league performance. Does anyone have the lineups? If so, is Sasa Ognenovski starting?

Oh Beom Suk is certainly a fullback. He is much better in his usual position than playing CB or MF or anywhere else.

    Lee Yong Rae yellow carded.

Ohhh good shot by Kim Sung Hwan but equally good save by Jung Sung Ryong.

Ahahahah Cho Dong Gun goooooal! Hong Chul assist from corner.

After all the possession and chances for Suwon. Although, at the end the fans and players will be very angry at the ref because alot of calls went the other way for Suwon.
