I'm still abit confused about the Haiti represent. I don't know if it's Racing Club Haïtien Port-au-Prince or Racing FC Gonaïves. In Haitian 2009 season Tempête FC Saint-Marc won the Ouverture tournament and Racing Club Haïtien Port-au-Prince won the Fermeture, so this should be the two haitian represents. http://www.rsssf.com/tablesh/haiti09.html The not-uptodate homepage of Racing Club Haïtien Port-au-Prince tells nothing about a CFU club championship participation. http://racingclubhaitien.com/ Soccerway is the only online source, I've founded, that gives a good coverage of the CFU club championship. This was already in 2009. And they keep on reporting in 2010. From the group A they have (as from the whole tournament in 2009) match reports and player profiles with birthdates. From some players I found their birthdates nowhere online, only at soccerway. They must have a good connections to the CFU. No the point: they reporting about Racing FC Gonaïves http://de.soccerway.com/teams/haiti/racing-des-gonaives/ as second haitian represent. It's not a mistaken change of names because there are the real Racing FC Gonaïves players like Clerçant Clerjuste. Last season Racing FC Gonaïves struggled against relegation, which they only avoid by winning the relegation play-off. So I don't understand why a team ranked placed 14 in the final team plays the CFU Club "Champion"ship. Are there somewhere in the internet some fotos/pictures of this tournament? Besides the CA River Plate Puerto Rico Ponce homepage I've found nothing. http://www.rivercaribe.com/
The CFU pays Soccerways for them to deal with all the torunament stats... Actually soccerways also deals and manages the new CONCACAF Champions League website and statistics.
Well, on CONCACAF's website ( http://www.concacaf.com/page/CL/NewsDetail/0,,12813~1964508,00.html ) they now have Racing des Gonaives's crest on the page instead of the other Racing.
Oh yes, and congrats to River on winning the group, but now they're going to have to go down to Trinidad & Tobago next month to try and knock out SJ Jabloteh in their own house.
Bold edit following the clarification of which Racing is in the tournament. So then they're off to Puerto Rico to play in the Islanders' group, right? Hopefully Noel and Marcelin will give them a warm welcome.
Thanks for the info - and to the Islanders for giving them both the opportunity to have solid careers (esp. Fabrice, after flaming out with the Rapids).
After looking at their scorelines I think they have a good shot.. My reason for following is that a former player from my favorite Scottish club has joined River Plate PR.. Juan Sara
Joe Public beat Avenues United 6-0 tonight. Leo Victor beat Devonshire 5-2. Joe Public 6 points Leo Victor 3 points Devonshire 1 Avenues 1
From the summary of Group A on Concacaf's website today, here is a link to their records of what is happening in the tournament (click on it, then on "2010" below "CFU Club Championship"). http://www.concacaf.com/page/Other/0,,12813,00.html
The haitian Club in this tournament is called Racing Junior of Gonaives. it's the club of the city of Gonaives. Not to confuse with Racing Club Haitien that is a Port-au-Prince club .
Good luck with that. Jabloteh will be hard to beat at home. I see The Islanders,Jabloteh and Joe Public coming out of CFU.
http://www.concacaf.com/page/CL/NewsDetail/0,,12813~2003308,00.html says Elite SC of Cayman Islands has withdrawn, Defense Force of Guyana has been moved to Group D which now has 4 clubs, and Group B, where Defense Force used to be, will have both its clubs advance to the Second Round. Bayamon of Puerto Rico and Systems 3 of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will play each other twice to determine who goes into which Second Round group. Assuming Joe Public wins Group C, the reward for winning the two club Group B is to not be grouped with and have to finish ahead of Joe Public in a group played in Trinidad and Tobago in the Second Round.
With all these drop outs, why don't they give W connection a spot? They had a good run last year. Plus T&T teams have owned this competition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFU_Club_Championship And CFU can not have Jamaican clubs not take part next year. They are too good not to take part. this competition will be much better with them in it.
