It's not quite 2003-level yet, but I'm getting to the point where I dread game time. A month ago it seemed reasonable to assume that it was just a matter of time before we'd put all the pieces back together and start picking up points. "We have to turn it around some time." But now I'm realizing that recovery is not inevitable. We could play out the rest of the season this way. The light at the end of the tunnel could be a train. There are too many things going wrong at once, too many players in a funk at the same time. Even if we fix 2 or 3 of the problems it might not be enough to recover. It's just starting to seem a little more unlikely. So I'll be watching this weekend, but I'll probably watch on Sunday morning instead of Saturday night, so I can fast forward through the depressing parts. I finished watching the last game in about 10 minutes.
Yeah, I'm with you. Think we'll finally get it right on Saturday and it'll be the confidence we need. If we don't, I'll start to give up on the season.
Hmmmm same lineup as last week, including the bench, apart from Lamah starting in place of Ho-head. What's the definition of insanity?
For a team that needs wins badly, we played exactly how Seattle wanted us to. Slow and abject. Toothless and spineless. We couldn't even make a simple pass. Anything resembling any kind of magic is gone from this team. I'm at a total loss. I'm starting to doubt Pareja at this point. This game was a huge regression to an already shit situation.
I'm very neutral on all things FCD v Seattle. Some good, some bad and some sh!t. I'm not neutral on HSG and JM's performance this season as an MLS referee.
Relative to how we've played recently, I was encouraged by this game. It was a tough 0-0 game between two teams that played well defensively. Discouraging was how many bad simple passes we screwed up. Hopefully we can get the offense going against the weaker teams we're playing in the next two weeks, though based on our recent road games...
