    Celtic Glasgow zainteresowany "Żurawiem"
    [17.06.2005]

Dzisiaj do klubu wpłynęło oficjalne pismo Celticu Glasgow, potwierdzające zainteresowanie szkockiego klubu napastnikiem Wisły – Maciejem Żurawskim.

We wcześniejszych spotkaniach oglądał go jego asystent.

    http://www.pilkanozna.pl/pn.php?dzial=news&id=42284

maciej zurawski will be playing for Scottish runners'-up Celtic Glasgow next season. He informed his club (Wisla Krakow) that he has chosen the Scottish club's offer. Turkey's Trab....spor was also competing for his services.

Wisla and Celtic had already reached an agreement regarding the transfer fee for the Polish leagues' best forward. It is believed that Zurawski cost approximately 3mil. euro.

Thanks. Trabzon wanted him so much for Szymek. Wisla made a nice deal for a player of that age.

About 3 million Euro. The latest rumor is that Zuraw gets unveiled at Celtic tomorrow.

    Latest from Poland

    Monday, 4 July 2005 3:16 PM

Wisła Kraków and Celtic Glasgow representatives met today to finalize negotiations over Maciej Żurawski. However, it is reported that Besiktas made a 3.5 million euro bid, accompanied by a wealthy salary for the Polish striker. Despite this latest event, it remains very unlikely for Żurawski to break off his agreement with Celtic.

Just wondering, is he finally with Celtic yet or will they put it off another day?

    Zurawski doubt on Celtic move

WISLA Krakow striker Maciej Zurawski fears his move to Celtic has collapsed.

The 28-year-old Poland international agreed terms with the Celtic Park club last week but is currently training on his own at Wisla Krakow as he waits for the two clubs to reach agreement on his fee.

He said: "I am becoming very irritated. I have agreed with Celtic, but everything is in the hands of the clubs."

W środę 6 lipca br. władze Celtic Glasgow przekazały Wisłe Kraków SSA zaproszenie na spotkanie, którego celem miało być zawarcie kontraktu transferu Macieja Żurawskiego.

W czwartek rano (7 lipca br.) do Glasgow udał sie wiceprezes ds. sportowych Wisła Kraków SSA (p.o. przezesa zarządu) pan Zdzisław Kapka oraz Maciej Żurawski.

"Cały dzień trwała wymiana dokumentów niezbędnych do podpisania kontraktu. W tym samym czasie Maciej Żurawski przeszedł testy medyczne prowadzone przez zespół medyczny wicemistrza Szkocji" - poinformował Jerzy Jurczyński, rzecznik prasowy Wisła Kraków SSA.

O godzinie 20.40 został podpisany kontrakt transferu definitywnego napastnika Wisły Kraków do zespołu wicemistrza Szkocji, Celtic Glasgow. Jednocześnie Maciej Żurawski podpisał kontrakt indywidualny Celtikiem.

Celtic FC signs Zurawski from Wisla Krakow
    Associated Press
GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) - Celtic signed Poland international Maciej Zurawski on a two year contract on Thursday after paying Wisla Krakow a 2 million pound (US$3.5 million, €2.94 million) transfer fee.
"We are delighted Maciej has signed for the club. This is something we have been working hard for over the last couple of weeks," said Celtic manager Gordon Strachan, who replaced Martin O'Neill at the end of last season. "He promised that he would be back with us to sign - and that is exactly what he has done.
The 29-year-old striker is regarded as Poland's top striker.
"I hope to perform well for Celtic in Scottish football and hopefully in the Champions League as well," Zurawski said. "Celtic has a great history and wonderful fans and I am very excited about playing for my new club."

Zurawski started the match and played till the 60th minute. Boruc spent the whole thing on the bench. Based on the result, the return leg will probable feature Boruc starting in net and Zuraw warmin up that bench. Hopefully they dont shelf him, it is after all just one match, even though the result essentially takes em out of the CL.

Yeah, the biggest problem for the National Team would be for Zurawski to get shelved now. We all know the guy is a slow starter, so hopefully he'll get a few more chances before he is put away.

This is probably one of the most shocking results in CL ever.

In todays SPL match vs Motherwell Zurawski wasnt even on the bench, and Strachan still didnt give Boruc a shot. As a result Celtic gave up another four goals. Game finished 4-4.
    this is from foxsoccer.com ...
Centre-back Bobo Balde was jettisoned to the bench and Poland striker Maciej Zurawski left out of the matchday squad as Strachan turned to some of the younger players he had inherited ... Marshall had survived Strachan's temptation to replace him with Poland international Artur Boruc after the midweek humiliation, which had represented Celtic's heaviest ever European defeat ...
