when i was a sophomore in high school, our jv team went on a run of consecutive draws. after our 3rd or so draw in a row, our varsity coach came onto our bus after the game and jokingly said "way to go, guys. go, fight, draw!" now the varsity team was really stinking it up, and one of our freshmen (who actually got picked for varsity but was playing with us on jv) yelled back at him "it's better than go, fight, lose, coach!" so go, fight, draw! it could be worse.
Well, we proved last spring that it's possible to win championship with lots of draws. Eventually, though, you do have to win a few, too.
The draw is out for the first two rounds of the 2017 Open Cup. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...eleased-for-2017-open-cup-first-second-rounds Indy will be on the road for their first game. They play the winner of Ann Arbor v. Michigan Bucks up in Michigan either at Ypsilanti or Pontiac. Wednesday, May 17 AFC Ann Arbor (NPSL) vs. Indy Eleven (NASL) 7 p.m. ET @ Scicluna Field (Eastern Michigan Univ.); Ypsilanti, Mich. -or- Michigan Bucks (PDL) vs. Indy Eleven (NASL) 7:30 p.m. ET @ Ultimate Soccer Arenas; Pontiac, Mich. The 3rd round pairings will be announced after the 1st round. If Indy advances there is a good change of meeting Saint Louis, Louisville, or Cincinnati.
In the Indy sub-forum? I don't know if there is enough interest for that. An Open Cup thread got started last year in this forum and it got 3 replies. Once the Eleven had an opponent a game thread was started and that got over 70 replies. There is a general NASL Open Cup thread over on the main board: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/us-canada-cups-nasl-edition.1983818/page-17

Usually the Indy and Houston games conflict or Indy is on BeIN. When I posted this I was thinking, hey, the Indy game is at 2 pm Central and on ESPN3, so I can watch before I head out to the Dynamo home game that night. It just hit me that the Dynamo game this week is at 3 pm CDT. Dang it. I'll get to watch an Indy game live this year but not this week.

Well, the good news is that no one is exactly running away with this race yet. On the other hand, Indy does not have great track record in Florida.

The spring season is getting away from us now. Not only does Indy remain winless, but three of the six draws have come against the bottom two teams in the league. A win against Miami would go a long way toward putting Indy back on the right track. I don't have any confidence that it can happen, though.
