My reading of the format is that NASL and USL teams will play amateur teams in Round 2. So not only would NASL teams be playing amateur sides in Round 2 but since there will automatically be at least a couple of amateur teams in round 3 they could also play another one before meeting a MLS team.

http://www.empireofsoccer.com/puerto-rico-fc-misses-out-on-concacaf-champions-league-59412/ I missed this when it happened. Puerto Rico FC was eliminated from the CFU Club Championship so they have no shot at the next CCL. Puerto Rico FC went 2-0-1 in their group but Portmore United won all three games including beating Puerto Rico, 0-1, at Bayamon. Only one team advanced from the group so PRFC is out. The CFU finalists are: Central (TRI) Cibao (DOM) Grenades (ATG) San Juan Jabloteh (TRI) Portmore United (JAM) Racing des Gonaives (HAI)
You are right, poor quality preseason games ended on lack of attack coordination on the real/important game. And that left us out of the concachapion. You can still see does effects on Cosmos game...

The Canadian Premier League has received unanimous support to join Canada Soccer. #CANPL— Canada Soccer (@CanadaSoccerEN) May 6, 2017 FC Edmonton must make a decision. CPL is unlikely to wait for the Fath Brothers to make up their minds. If Edmonton Eskimos or Daryl Katz of the Edmonton Oilers ever wanted to be part of the league, FC Edmonton could be missing the boat. 10 cities already showed their interest in bidding, it would be naive to think that no one from Edmonton showed interest
